Our roundhouse is on a working farm with Swaledale and Blackfaced sheep and heavy horses (which you can book to ride!) in a beautiful valley in south west Cumbria. It has amazing views, a stream running nearby, is peaceful with good interior facilities. Close to us are a variety of good pub/restaurants (would recommend having a car though). You’ll love our roundhouse, it is unique, cosy, romantic, has a stunning location, and is good for couples, friends, outdoor folk, and we take dogs.

Prendre plaisir!

Our personally made beautiful roundhouse (NB new roof November 2016!) is set in an idyllic location in the south west corner of the Lake District National Park on a working farm. The combination of soft wood and circular shape creates a very relaxing place - with the wood burning stove and dined lights it can be both practical (it has full electric and water) and very romantic! It has a lovely big bed for two, if more can sleep 4/5; the kitchen is fully appointed (induction hob, toaster, kettle microwave and fridge!) and sink with hot water. The showers and toilets are outside the Roundhouse only 20m away and immaculately clean. Enjoy!

The Roundhouse is situated on our campsite on a raised terrace with easy access to toilets and showers as well as washing facilities with hot water in addition to that in the roundhouse. It is on a working farm with cows sheep and horses so for health and safety reasons it's not possible to access other areas of the farm but there are some lovely walks directly from the site up onto Black and White Combe. The beach - glorious miles of largely unoccupied sand- is only 3 miles away, 5 minutes drive. Currently we are developing some areas of the site but would hope that this is not creating any inconvenience to our visitors.

Annie's roundhouse is like an Oasis in the desert. It's a perfect campsite with gorgeous views with a luxury of a 5 star in Lake District region. From the linens to hob to microwave to a fireplace and it can host a family of 4 or a group of 6 if you're looking to make it economical. Annie herself is a great host, very warm and kind. One should stay at this beautiful roundhouse at least once. I'm definitely coming here soon. Good luck and cheers!

My husband and three year old son have just come back from a fantastic two week stay in the Roundhouse. It's in the most wonderful setting - a little off the beaten track in the (South/Western) Lake District but it's still drivable to the famous spots. During the first week we had a few road trips that included near by Broughton In Furness (where there is a terrific bakery), Lake Coniston (famous for inspiring Swallows & Amazons, where you can hire a boat) and even as far as Ambleside (with views on Windermere) but as we relaxed we stayed closer to home. There are several special walks from the yurt to mossy ruins and a stone circle - perfect for picnics and exploring, as well as nearby beaches. The hills are teaming with wildlife and the views all around are breath taking - across hills and down to the coast. The roundhouse itself is beautiful inside (with a roof that reminds you of a ship) and is well kitted out. It's also warm with a radiator/log fire and a barbq outside - we used all three depending on the weather. The position of the yurt and the campsite itself has changed a little since the pictures on Airbnb. When I first arrived I was a little concerned it was different but it turned out to all be well organised and thought through, with the yurt still feeling private and yet not too remote. The campsite attracted lovely people (my son made some brilliant new friends) and there's a lovely babbling stream where the children played by. In fact with the wild blackberries and raspberries in the fields and the plums in the trees; together with the draws of children's games for when it's rainy, the farm animals and the vistas it can feel pretty perfect for children. There's also something magical in the evening to look out at the tents with their individual fires or dart out at night to the bathroom (it's basic but does the job with nice warm showers - plus it's all regularly cleaned). One evening some of the campers played musical instruments round their fire - so memorable. Everyone on the farm was great too - warm and very pleasant to deal with. As for Cumbrian Heavy Horses (which the campsite is attached to) - it turned out to be a world class establishment with incredible horses...and it too was unpretentious and very warm with a philosophy that seemed both professional and open to all. Both my husband and I went on unforgettable rides with terrific teachers. All the staff were clearly so proud of the place. All in all we feel we had a unique and very special time at the Roundhouse. Many, many thanks! We'll be back!

My girlfriend and I have just returned from a memorable weekend away in the Lake District where we stayed at 'The Roundhouse'. The Yurt is both spacious and snug, with breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. It served as an excellent base for us to explore the Lake District and discover some of its hidden gems. We'd like to thank the whole team for being so welcoming and helpful. We can't wait to come back!!

My son and girlfriend visited the lovely Roundhouse for a few days away to celebrate his 21st birthday. It was a wonderful break and a lovely retreat for them. Everything was as described, the setting wonderful and the facilities in the Roundhouse and campsite were excellent. It is a cosy, well equipped and very comfortable place to stay. But they were disappointed not to be able to use the wood burner because of the heatwave during their stay! Mo the campsite warden was really helpful and gave some good tips on local places to eat and visit. They were pleased to meet Annie before they left after their flying visit to the countryside. The weather was scorching, so both went back to Manchester with a tan having been to Cumbria for the weekend! Annie had been really helpful before the trip when I needed to make contact about arrangements. She was really patient when I got in a muddle about dates, with lots of emails flying about, and was very flexible when we had to change the booking for a later date. It was no hassle at all. Thanks for having my son and his girlfriend to stay - they LOVED IT :)

If you're looking for a great nature retreat but with soft comforts look no further. The roundhouse yurt is extremely peaceful, and nestled away in the perfect spot not far from the beach. The host was very helpful and friendly. The Yurt was comfortable and clean and we were provided with all the amenities that were needed. We loved our trip there and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to get away in the lake district!! Xx

CJ and I run Baystone Bank Farm, our lovely Fell Farm in the Whicham Valley in the south west of the Lake District National Park. CJ originally comes from Devon, Annie from Cambridge. Annie is horse mad - Cumbrian Heavy Horses is her business and passion - whilst farming is in CJ's blood! We are both lucky to be able to do something we love in such a stunning place. CJ built the roundhouse himself, he's a talented fabricator and engineer, he also rides, and between us we also manage the sheep; Annie runs the equine side of things! We bought this farm in Feb 2015 so still have loads to do to get the farm how we want it!

We both currently live to work, but hope that as the various aspects of the farm consolidate we can relax a little. Annie is a keen scuba diver (favourite destination Thailand!) whilst CJ is planning to develop farming with Galloway cattle. We both enjoy the cameraderie of Steam Fairs (see us at Great Dorset Steam Show every year!) and for relaxation a glass or two of wine or a decent real ale or proper cider, along with good company or a good film night is hard to beat! We both love a good curry in fact we enjoy cooking although working as hard as we do at the moment time to cook properly - ie with wine!- is a rarity
