You’ll love my place because of the surrounding open, natural desert landscape. My place is good for couples and solo adventurers with a few pets. This is a remote Mojave Desert farm with extreme temperatures and winds. Come out here to enjoy Nature. This is your opportunity to get away from electromagnetic radiation. No TV reception, no cable or microwave oven available. Cell phone service for AT&T works if you stand in the right place, but no signal for Verizon.

Le logement

This is a 40 foot by 8 foot travel trailer, vintage 1950, recently renovated. There is one bedroom with a full sized bed, a bunk room for 2 and a comfortable flat couch. There is a kitchen with refrig, gas stove and sink with hot and cold running water. The bathroom has a basin and tub with shower. The toilet connects with a modern septic tank.

Accès des voyageurs

Guests have full access to the trailer and its fenced and gated yard. There is ample private parking outside the fenced yard.

Échanges avec les voyageurs

Je suis disponible pour répondre à des questions sur la zone locale alors que je vis dans la maison sur la propriété.

I'm available to answer questions about the local area as I live in the house on the property.

Autres remarques

There are a few snakes, scorpions and coyotes outdoors, so small pets should not be brought out here. I have 5 large dogs who occasionally bark, although the yard around the trailer is fenced and gated.

The trailer was clean. It was quiet, restful. The scenery is amazing.

We only stopped in for a night, and got in late so we didn't get to meet Penny. But the accommodations were clean, the instructions to get in were clear, and there were even plenty of snacks in the fridge. Beautiful stars too, and dogs and other animals in the yard. A great stay!

Penny was a wonderful and kind host. The property is remote and the surrounding desert is lovely. The trailer is delightfully vintage, clean and comfortable. I was in the area on business and had booked myself in for 3 nights but stayed only one for the simple reason that my cell carrier is Verizon and I lost reception about a mile from the property. Also, the reverse osmosis system mentioned in the description is non-functioning, Penny however kindly provided bottled water.

I'm from the suburbs of Silicon Valley and this was a very unique experience for me to be so far away from all the hubbub of life in the suburbs! Penny made me feel very welcome when I arrived and it was immediately clear that she wanted to make sure I was comfortable. Her description of the desert trailer hideaway is spot on accurate. The view from the comfortable wooden adirondack chairs outside the trailer is nothing but desert, with sunrise to the left and sunset to the right, and an amazing number of stars at night. I sat out there listening to a gentle, warm breeze one whole afternoon and heard nothing else (except the distant clucking of chickens.) The experience was like being close to nature, yet having a very clean, comfortable bed, electricity, running hot/cold water, a functioning retro kitchen and bathroom, and plenty of privacy. Not "glamping" exactly, but along those lines. I wished I had thought to turn the quiet, efficient heater on before I went to sleep because it got very cold in the trailer at night. Once I turned the heat on it became cozy very quickly! If you're curious about life in the Mojave desert, and want to unplug for a while, here's your chance! I will definitely go back!

I am an out of the box retired registered nurse running a healthy living ranch. So there is no smoking, alcohol, illegal drugs or marijuana allowed here. We grow vegetables, fruit and nuts on a small scale. We have chickens and free ranging turkeys too. I invite travelers to share my love of the desert, though weather conditions can get extreme. I am into preventing disease, anti-aging, cleanses, and using herbs for healing. I'm into Christianity, meditation, UFOs, and planting trees. We are located midway between Los Angeles and Las Vegas, just 15 minutes off interstate 15. Roads are paved until the last 1/4 mile which is a hard packed dirt road. Stay on regularly trafficked roads and you will not get stuck in the soft sand. I read a great deal, especially Patrick O'Brian, John Grisham, David Baldacci, John Sandford and Zecharia Sitchin. My favorite TV show is Ancient Aliens. My favorite foreign trips were to Peru and Tibet. I speak intermediate Spanish slowly, not fluently.
Come out here to enjoy Nature. This is your opportunity to get away from electromagnetic radiation. No TV reception, no cable or microwave oven available. Cell phone service for AT&T works if you stand in the right place, nonexistent signal for Verizon. Stronger cell signals for Verizon as you drive closer to Barstow. Radio reception limited.
