Very nice apartment situated in private dead end side street. Note road is very narrow so it does not acccomodate most vehicles, however a public parking area is a couple minutes away. The apartment has been completely renovated and all linens, towels are new. The bathrooms are extremely nice and large for Italy standards. We did not spend too much time in the apartment since we were visiting family in nearby towns, so a lack of TV was not much of an issue for us. The views are beautiful and overall we enjoyed our stay.

Casa Mardi is a tastefully renovated and very affordable house in the small village of Bugnara. Although we had some issues at check-in (the local contact was away and could not receive phone calls - only (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) messages, but there is no wifi near the apartment), our first impression was very positive. We were disappointed to find that the washing machine was broken as we had been traveling for a while and planned on washing our clothes. The local contact explained that it had been broken for a while and was taken off the apartment listing, but remained on the description. As an apology, the host removed the charges for our additional guest who was staying for 2 nights. The fridge was not switched on, and neither was the boiler for the hot water. These were easy to sort out, but we had to wait for cold drinks in a heatwave. The real issue we had with the house was the heat. This is not the owner's fault (Italy was experiencing unusually hot weather), but the lack of screens on the windows meant we had to choose between not sleeping due to the heat, or not sleeping due to the mosquitoes. That, coupled with the neighbors' barking dog and loud shouting in the mornings, made us abandon the house for the last two nights of our trip, and we went to a hotel. Bugnara is a quaint village, but there are no real restaurants (there is a bar that sells fried snacks) or attractions, and no transport at all. The locals are friendly, and the views are pretty, but it was difficult to enjoy our stay this time. I imagine Casa Mardi is lovely in the winter, but for the summer I'd stay in Sulmona

Dear Steven, thanks for your feedback. We were sorry to hear your stay was uncomfortable, however, we would like to point out that while as you say, the extreme heat wasn't our fault, the lack of wifi and a washing machine were clearly stated in our info. What you took as an apology - a discount for your friend - was really our attempt to come to a compromise after your complaints about the washing machine being broken, when really you expected one. As for your other issues - it is the first time we hear someone complain about our friendly neighbour (who, by the way, watched after the house after you left having broken the main door! something we didn't complain about, nor claimed a refund for) and quite surprised for your comment about Bugnara. Yes Bugnara isn't Sulmona - which is why our house is more affordable and probably better suited for someone looking for a holiday in a smaller, quieter village. Please read your host's description and list of services carefully next time you book somewhere - reviewing a host's house in this way is really unfair and will affect all of our future bookings negatively.

Martins house is very lovely. It is very clean, has a new kitchen - well equipped - and is even in summer time a cool refugium. Before our travel we asked Martin if he has a baby crib and although he did´t have, he organised one. That was very kind! We had a little misunderstanding with the washing machine. We thought there would be one, as written in the text. However, the machine was out of order. In the icon list it was not marked, which we didn't check - we just read the text. This was for us problematic, because we were traveling with a baby. However, they were very helpful with this problem and even willing to send an engineer to repair it. We were in contact with an Italian woman who spoke fluently English and was very helpful and answered promptly all our questions.

Martin´s house is a lovely old but fully renovated house in a very nice village. Everything what Martin installed in his house is new and the heating works great. Each of the two bedrooms has a own bathroom. The living room is big and the kitchen has everything you need to prepare lovely Italian food. Martin is a very nice host. It was a pleasure to comunicate with him.
