Experience the “real” Greece.
Enjoy our family holiday villa in one of the un-spoilt, rural, island spots in Greece, yet so close to Athens and its airport. It offers 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms and is on two levels. The bedrooms and 2 main bathrooms are on the lower level with two separate terrace areas. The entrance hall, lounge, kitchen, terrace balcony and another bathroom are on the upper level. It can comfortably sleep 8, with an extra folding bed if needed. The spacious open plan kitchen and lounge lead out to the large terrace balcony with splendid sea and country views. This is ideal, either for eating “al fresco” or just relaxing in the fresh air on one of the loungers.
There is a well-established terraced, garden with ample shade and privacy.
The villa is located in the small village of Mili, overlooking the sea and the town of Karistos. This is a working fishing port and the main town in the southern part of the island of Evia. The location offers cool breezes in the hot summer and the opportunity for some peace and tranquility.
Access from Athens airport is easy, either a 1 hour trip by car ferry from Rafina on the mainland to Marmari on the island, close to Karistos, or by road via the bridge at Halkida in the north of the island (a longer trip but ideal if ferries are unable to run).
The town of Karistos, is about 10 minutes away by car, as are several good beaches. The town and beachside areas have an excellent variety of cafes, tavernas and shops. Being a “working” port and seaside-side town, not frequented by many international tourists, one can enjoy excellent value food and hospitality; a taste of the “real” Greece!
The villa is well located also to explore the surrounding area and to enjoy varied activities including water sports, cycling and sightseeing. It is well placed for walking groups in the cooler months
The house and its gardens have a number of steps and care is needed with young children etc. but child stair gates are available if needed.
The villa itself is well kitted out with all the usual things one would expect in a holiday home. This will be the first time it has been let and the price has been deliberately set at the lower end because we would welcome feedback. We are happy for guests to use the recreational items at the villa, including snorkeling equipment, board games, books etc.
We request no smoking inside the house and for care to be taken with windows and doors if the wind comes up.
We are happy to give advice on best travel arrangements including details of a good car hire company in Karistos.
Accès des voyageurs
Guests have access to the entire villa and to the spacious and private, terraced garden, which also has a separate terrace offering splendid views of the sea and town below as well as surrounding hills and a nearby Castle (Kokkino Kastelo).
Échanges avec les voyageurs
We will provide details of an English speaking contact who will " meet and greet" guest and assist locally in case of need.
The villa is accessed via the village of Mili, along a short but steep, winding track and is in a secluded location, just behind a rarely used private chapel. Some of the closest neighbours are local smallholders, growing olives, vegetables and tending livestock; all adding to the rural nature of the area.
- Care needed because villa has a staircase and terraced garden has some steep steps. But child stair gates are available.
- Guests welcome to use beach equipment, games and dvd player with display. A range of dvd's and books available.
- Care needed with windows, shutters and doors if windy
- A steep track to the Villa needs careful car navigation

I am a Brit married to an Australian, both retired and we divide our time between Australia and Europe. Along with my brother and wife, we have a family holiday home in Greece, in a lovely, little known and rural, island spot not far from Athens. The villa has been used 'till now by our family, from babies up to grandparents, and this is the first time we have considered renting the place.
In addition to English, I speak basic Greek and my wife speaks good Italian.
