My place is close to nature, one of Flores best Restaurants the 'Casa do Rei' is in the neighborhood, hiking trails lead to canyons and beaches. You’ll love my place because of the ambiance with an old school wood stove, the outdoors space with a masoned BBQ and child play ground corner. It is good for couples, solo adventurers and families (> 4 people). If you wish to travel with friends or as family, also check out Casas das Flores - Padeira, giving you space of a complete house (> 6 people).
The Casas are authentic Azorean houses – with the stone house first mentioned in the local registry in 1840 – aiming at using as many natural and local resources (including the usage of solar energy) as possible, helping visitors to indulge into local life and nature.
The Casa do Peão has its name from the old Portuguese word for farmer or peon. It refers to the Casas’ own garden in which guests are welcome to participate in growing and harvesting their own fruits and vegetables. The original stone house was first mentioned in the official registers in 1840 and it still transports the architecture from the olden days with its thick stone walls. In 2015/2016, it has been fully renovated and new bedrooms and bathrooms have been added, resulting in two independent units:
Lareira refers to the chimney that dominates the spacious living room of this part of the house and invites to spend time in front of the fire after a long day of exploring the island. Furthermore, it is equipped with a master bedroom and ensuite bathroom with a bathtub for relaxation. It has a small breakfast corner with a water boiler, microwave, small fridge and toaster - but no further cooking facilities - for making light breakfasts. The Lareira apartment can be booked for 2-4 people using the sleeping couch in the spacious living room.
The price includes the usage of the outdoor premises including two terraces, the outdoor masoned grill and a small playground for children.

What to Take
Flores is a subtropical island and when packing you should consider the climate as the weather in the Azores is changeable! Florentines say, if you do not like the weather, wait for 30 minutes. The island enjoys a mild temperate climate throughout the year and benefits from the Gulf Stream; a current of warm water that heads north east from the Gulf of Mexico. The average air temperature varies between 11 and 26°C depending on the time of year and the surrounding ocean averages between 15 and 25°C. Being so far out in the Atlantic, the Azores are prone to rainy days at any time of year, and without these showers of course, you could not enjoy the beautiful flora on the islands that particularly gave Flores its name – Flowers.
