I grew up in a small town in south Texas. After graduating college, I moved to Houston and began working in the multi-family construction industry and have continued in the apartment industry for 30 years now. I own several “conventional” rental properties offering long-term leases on apartment units. This is my first endeavor with Airbnb. I became interested in doing an Airbnb because when I’m not working, one of my passions is travel. And as exciting as travel can be, living out of a suitcase, in hotel rooms can be challenging not to mention tiresome. As the Chinese writer, Lin Yutang, once said, “no one realizes how beautiful it is to travel until he comes home and rests his head on his old, familiar pillow.” I personally began using Airbnb and when I traveled because I found it’s somewhat challenging at times when staying in a traditional hotel room. It’s hard to eat well on the road, especially if you’re hanging out in hotels where a kitchen isn’t always readily accessible. There’s something to be said for staying in a private “home” especially one which is equipped with a full kitchen. I appreciate making a “not-my-home” my home. I need to be able to make coffee, pull together some breakfast, and make a late afternoon cocktail as well as unpack my bags. And, to me, it feels homey in a rental apartment.
So with all this said, it was important to me to try and create this apartment into a space that you will feel at home in. I’m hopeful you will agree. Thanks for your consideration. And welcome …
