We sleep 2-4 in each cottage and are close to The Lake District, with easy access to Penrith, Carlisle, Scotland and many more places worth visiting. There are several local pubs and cafes that serve great food too. You’ll love Gamblesby because of the outdoor opportunities/wildlife, the peaceful village, the comfy bed, the fully-equipped kitchen, the views and scenery. We are good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, families (with kids), big groups, and furry friends (pets).
Our beautiful red sandstone cottages include… Hawthorn Cottage sleeping 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 children, spacious Helm and cosy Herdwick Cottages, both accommodating 2 guests.
Hawthorn Cottage is all on ground floor level with no stairs, a twin bedroom, a comfortable lounge and a spacious, well equipped kitchen/diner.
Helm and Herdwick Cottages are perfect for couples, featuring a character beamed ceiling, en-suite bedrooms and in Helm exposed red sandstone walls.
All the cottages can be booked together and are popular with larger groups, giving personal space in your own cottage.
Each cottage contains a colour TV, DVD, radio/CD player and newly installed heating. Fully equipped kitchens include cookers and hobs, microwaves, dishwashers (in Hawthorn and Helm), fridges, utensils and crockery. Bookings include towels and bed-linen. (Cots, highchairs and welcome meals are also available – please request when booking.)

I am a mum, grandma, wife and general good friend. I always try to have a positive outlook on life and help people where I can.
I am a volunteer with St John Ambulance and a Community First Responder for the Ambulance Service.
I have lived abroad for many years in Spain, Germany and the USA, and have met some fascinating people along the way.
I love exploring new places. I really appreciate those little extra touches that make a stay special - I'm not really one for "roughing it" (I did that in my youth) ! I have holiday cottages myself, so am always conscious of looking after other people's belongings and leaving things in a good state.
My motto in life would be "Enjoy what life throws at you, and appreciate the little surprises along the way"
