Beautiful Victorian farmhouse, formerly Gillian's Guest House, is the perfect place to get away from it all. Three bedrooms, (one queen, one double and 2 twins) sleeping up to 6, with a full eat-in kitchen, w/d, wood burning fireplace and sun porch. A terrific place to focus on family and friends, with no distractions and plenty of peace & quiet. 15 minutes drive to Brattleboro, Vermont with movies, restaurants, and unique shopping - a great way to see the local artisanal scene!
The house is located historic and picturesque Newfane Village, with many ski resorts a short drive away. Stratton, Mount Snow, Bromley and Grafton Pond are all nearby, for both downhill and cross country skiers.

Gillian will be on hand to make sure you are comfortable at check in and lives around the corner from the house should there be any help needed with the accommodations.
Enjoy getting away from it all and focus on the simple pleasures. We are stocked up on puzzles, games and books to read in front of the wood burning fireplace. There is a washer/dryer for extended stays, plenty of parking, quick 2 minute trip to town for necessities at the Newfane General Store, and while you're there, browse through our lovely local library around the corner.
- Extreme care needs to be taken if using the wood burning fireplace. (Please ask for a demonstration of the flue if you are a novice.)
-Cleaning fee is required for each booking. Additional Cleaning services can be arranged for longer stays.
-Check-in at other times can be arranged if necessary, please email.
-This house is non-wifi so if you are relying on internet access, you'll need to access your smart-phone (but be aware that Vermont sometimes has spotty coverage.) Emergency wifi is available at the local library, or we can try to help find a local hotspot.

Hello! We are former innkeepers (West River Lodge and Gillian's Guest House) who are both retired professors, and are happy to now open our new home to guests and also invite you to stay at our old house around the corner. We would love to provide information about our beautiful West River Valley in Southern Vermont, and will share our knowledge of antiques, travel, food, culture, science and anything else you have a passion for.
We are the owners of two friendly Jack Russel terriers at our new home, with a separate living room for guests, complete with a wifi, fireplace and cable tv. Our library has a wide range of books from classics to currents if you feel like curling up in front of the fire with a good book, or experience intense bird activity from our dining room window. Our other house was formerly run as Gillian's Guest House but is now available in it's entirety for anyone who would like a quiet, spacious and relaxing place to get away from it all. Both houses are close to skiing...Stratton, Bromley and Mount Snow are all about a 1/2 hours' drive. Also nearby you'll have hiking, biking, antiquing, art and exploring all Vermont has to offer. We are close to fine dining at the Four Columns Inn, as well as casual fare at Rick's Tavern, and Brattleboro is a short 15 minutes away. While we can't accommodate your pets, we are child friendly.
