Ryoko's place was absolutely divine with two balconies overlooking the great area of Nishitokyo.
Ryoko helped us check in by helping us with our bags from Tanashi Station, and showed us to her place -- about a 8-9 minute saunter. Showed us to her keys and the wifi box. The place was as described but much more spacious than the photos would allude to. Two separate bedrooms, one with tatami, and ample closet space caps it off.
The kitchen has a small fridge, an always-on water-heater for tea/coffee, a large sink, microwave, and induction cooktop.
The wi-fi was ample and seemed unlimited -- sustained speeds of 20Mbps down and 10Mbps up. Also, you can carry it with you on the 2.4GHz band.
Air conditioning and heater are easily used in the room, though if you do not read Japanese, may need some assistance with translation.
Unlike many places, this place has an indoor washing machine. Modern and easy-to-use, produced clean clothes in a few hours. The place provided a place to easily hang-dry your clothes indoors or out.
The washroom was fantastic - a full shower room with tub. The water takes a bit to heat up and does not get extremely hot, but plenty enough for a couple showers a day.
The area is close by enough to Tanashi station and the large mall beside it so that purchasing food, coffee, alcohol, etc. are all very easy. Make sure to take the semi- or commuter-express train from Takadanobaba Station or it will take a while with 15 stops in between. It takes about 30 minutes to get into Shinjuku/Shibuya areas.
The area is very poor in English penetration, but with a bit of Japanese, (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Translate, and some effort, you can enjoy the great food and the authentic experience of Nishitokyo not too far away from the crazy lights of Shinjuku/Shibuya.
