Pros: The entire campground is clean. Hosts are great. The townspeople are nice. We even got to see a local band play. You can see the stars. Days are hot but nights are a comfortable temperature. The yurts/cabins are cozy and spacious. Bed is comfortable. My favourite airbnb. Really cool stop if travelling from Norcal to Socal. It's on the way to Santa Barbera. Great experience! Cons: The town's dogs bark at night. Then around 4 am their roosters start screaming. The cabins dont have actual locks, they only have sliding locks. Keep your valuables hidden in your car. It's more expensive but worth it. Facing the cabins, the left most one has a huge window with no curtain. It just makes it a little unsettling in terms of privacy.

We booked the Gable Hut same day for a random last minute adventure. It was the perfect compromise for camping convenience. It delivered on open air, fire pit, coyotes howls, and stargazing without having to pitch a tent or worry about whether or not you packed all of your equipment (not to mention shower and bathrooms). The huts themselves were the initial draw and didn't disappoint. Comfy bed, plenty of blankets, 2 outlets, a light and a window that framed the landscape perfectly. It's nestled between Cuyama Highway and Cuyama Airport so it's wasn't as tucked away as I hoped. The drive in through fields of green lettuces and kale give you the impression you'll be surrounded by farm, but The Blue Sky Center is more 'in town'. The plus side is you can walk to the Burger Barn or Cuyama Buckhorn for rations. I learned more about the mission of Blue Sky Center after wandering around the various buildings and staying there felt like I was part of something bigger than just a place to stay. I would come back with a big group of friends for a weekend getaway.

Prepare to be inspired! The Blue Sky Center is the future of community and society in the United States and hopefully beyond. There are so many amazing aspects about this place, but I'll try to list them as concisely as possible: 1) The blue sky. Just like the name says, while you're here you'll be surrounded by an incredible blue sky. The sunrise and sunset are incredible especially after a nice walk down the runway and the stars are like a map. You can look at them for hours. 2) The fire pit. My girlfriend and I had so much fun making a fire and we hung out around that thing for hours. We roasted marshmallows and made s'mores. 3) The Hut. We stayed in the Gable hut. It was serene. If you're a couple I would recommend the gable hut or the snail hut. 4) The mission. See if you can talk to one or two of the artists who have their studios there. We did and it was very uplifting. I hope the future brings more Blue Sky Centers into existence and into the communities that need them. The world would be a better place. The Blue Sky Center itself is so amazing, just remember New Cuyama doesn't have your typical grocery stores anywhere nearby. Also if you're a vegan you'll probably be hard pressed to find food in the town of New Cuyama. If you bring a nice cooler with cold drinks and food this is possibly one of the best Airbnb experiences ever!

We lucked out and had the entire place to ourselves during our stay! Seeing the full moon from our hut window and playing dice around the fire made for the most relaxing night. The staff was so friendly and informative. We can't wait to come back!

Had a great night at this place. Such a great and unique experience. Make sure you bring your food and drinks and I would recommend you bringing your own sheets :-) Loved it!

The tents looked very pretty, but were not the most comfortable to stay in. The water coming out of the shower and bathroom faucets did not seem clean, and smelled strongly of sulfur. Overall, I did not value the bed/tent at the price we paid.
