Échanges avec les voyageurs

We live here and Stephen works from home so there is nearly always someone here to help with queries or ideas for places to go and things to do.

Autres remarques

We have two dogs, a cat, and several chickens, all very friendly, but if you do have allergies it's worth knowing.
Broadband speed is "rural".
Please note - usually there is no mobile phone signal in the property (ideal for some guests?). Some networks may get a weak signal outside at times - we have a landline to use if needed.

Breathtaking scenery. Elegant and refined decor. If you're looking for a relaxing stop, and a highlight of your trip, stay here. Hosts were very kind and welcoming, but also respected our private space. This was paradise, we were so sad to leave. Everything about the location and decor was a "wow".

Thank you so much to Wendy and Stephen for being such fantastic hosts. The annexe was just gorgeous and they are so lucky to have such a picturesque back garden where sheep even came down to have a drink. It is even more fabulous in real life than the pictures show and was clean and beautifully furnished. We loved every minute of being here. Breakfast was amazing so delicious and lots of choice and options. Delicious scones were there to welcome us to thank you. Really kind to leave so many toiletries for us to use as well as great tea and coffee making options. Great walks from our door step with detailed maps provided in the annexe and lovely local pubs for dinners. Do make use of the fab decking- with such beautiful views in your back garden. An amazing experience for our first air b 'n' b we came back very relaxed.

We had an amazing few days at Wendy and Stephens's place, the room is just like the pictures, if not better, and the location is beautiful. We would highly recommend staying here, it really is idyllic.

Beautiful spot which we found peaceful and relaxing. Hosts very friendly and hospitable. Breakfast was well thought out and generous. Unexpected. If you do one thing when you're visiting this area check out the Northern light cinema at Matlock. A little gem!!!

One of the most tranquil, relaxing places we have ever stayed. We didn't want to leave!! The accommodation is just as described/pictures show, beautifully decorated, comfortable and clean. We slept with the door slightly open to hear the river swooshing past both night's which was lovely. Wendy was brilliant throughout our stay and the brownies were most welcome with tea on the Friday of our arrival as well as meeting Wendy and Stephen's gorgeous super friendly dogs. Breakfast was delicious, plentiful and beautifully presented, it was so nice to sit and eat it looking out over the river. We'd highly reccomend the walk to Litton Mill (straight from the door) but do take wellies/walking boots. We are already planning a return trip for next year and cannot wait to stay here again. All in all location/accommodation and Wendy and Stephen are fantastic, book here it will not disappoint!

Wendy and Stephen's stone cottage in the beautifully restored, historic Cressbrook Mill, is as modern and comfortable inside as it appears historically accurate and substantial on the outside. Situated deep in a Peaks District dale, surrounded on both sides with steep, verdant hillsides dotted with grazing sheep, and straddling the babbling River Wye, Cressbrook is the perfect place to escape from the fast pace of modern life. Though it's a perfect spot for hiking, cycling, climbing, and fishing, it's just as relaxing on its private, riverside deck, or in a local pub, at the end of the day. The apartment, its natural setting, and our hosts made our visit delightful. Highly recommend!

Wendy - I was born locally and have lived at Cressbrook Mill from the age of 5, when it was just a cluster of derelict buildings. My father converted the Mill into apartments around the turn of the millennium and it is now a beautiful, mature development. I have been running a busy holiday apartment at the Mill for over 8 years and really enjoy meeting an interesting mix of people. Many return every year and some book several times each year, so I can't be too scary! I work in a lovely cafe (Village Green) in the 'plague village' of Eyam - well worth a visit. We have 2 dogs and love walking all over the Peaks, or further away if we get chance.

Stephen - I moved to the Peaks after I met Wendy and never left! I love exploring the bridleways and singletrack all over the white and dark peaks on my mountain bike, but nothing too serious. I also enjoy getting out with the dogs on the nearby walks or planning new routes. My camera usually goes with me as I'm an enthusiastic amateur, always looking to see what I can catch. It also goes with me to race circuits and hillclimbs when I can - either to spectate or to compete in my Lotus Elise.

We travelled to visit family in New Zealand when the kids were very young and have been to the usual summer holiday destinations of Greek Islands, Algarve, verious places in France (where we also have family) plus the UK. In 2015 we ventured to the USA on a self-made road trip, taking in several National Parks and the West Coast. It was fantastic and we hope to go back to see more.
