Jan & Duncan offer you a warm welcome to Rawcliffe House Farm Holiday Cottages near Pickering in the North York Moors National Park.
Rawcliffe House Farm has been our family home for over 10 years, and is next to the cottages in the original late 18th century farmhouse.
Our adjacent self-catering cottages and studio rooms are surrounded by 42 acres of meadows, woodland and pastures. Although the farm is no longer worked, the fields are grazed by cattle belonging to a local farmer.
We have an assortment of hens including our Light Sussex cockerel (Sid) and his light Sussex hens. These free to roam hens supply our lovely fresh eggs which can be bought by our guests & collected (with prior arrangement) from the nest by any guests.
Although we do not allow any pets we do have 2 well behaved black Labrador dogs ourselves. They are called Holly & Bramble.
Also in front of our farmhouse we have a pond on which you will see our pet Muscovy and Indian Runner Ducks along with wild mallards and assorted wild birds who like to feed from the grain we put out.
We have an extensive garden for our guests to enjoy with picnic benches and wild bird feeders to sit and watch. There is plenty of space for children to play and adults to relax.
In addition we have created a walk around our fields where there are further wild bird feeding stations, benches and a viewing platform at the top of the field giving uninterrupted panoramic views. Whilst sitting on the platform or from the cottage windows Deer can often be seen on the fields. Wild birds seen include Barn Owls and Kestrels hunting over the fields, Woodpeckers, Nuthatches and many more. Why not bring your camera or your paintbrushes too?
There is a local pub, The White Swan, serving food and a café in the nearby village of Newton-upon-Rawcliffe (approx. 1 mile away). We are only 6 miles from the bustling market town of Pickering. This lovely Yorkshire town has a wide variety of family owned shops, supermarket, restaurants, cafes, pubs, take-aways, the steam railway and its very own castle and museum. There is also a swimming pool and sports centre.
We also have embraced the concept of green energy. We have used our extensive south facing roofs to accommodate solar panels to help reduce our electricity and therefore our carbon footprint.
We continually update, improve and refurbish our cottages and studio rooms in our endeavour to ensure a perfect holiday for our guests at Rawcliffe House Farm
