Just over 1 1/2 miles from the Capitol and the inauguration. 30 min walk, 8 minute Uber. Free parking if you give me a heads up!
You'll be staying in my 3 bedroom 1.5 bathroom house that has three queen beds and a pull out couch. It can be your home away from home as cheesy as that sounds. The house is on Capitol Hill and blocks from the vibrant H Street corridor full of bars and restaurants. The bedrooms and the house in general have a distinctively patriotic decor, because it's DC afterall.
==The House In General==
Awesome early 1900's Capitol Hill rowhouse, fully renovated over the years to feel modern and comfortable. On a quiet street with a spectrum of young professionals, families, and more! It is close to the hip H Street, historic Eastern Market, the U.S. Capitol and more. The house is within 1 block of a number of bus routes, capital bike shares, a couple of blocks away from the H St Streetcar, and a short walk to a couple of Metro subway stations. You’ll live in the future with the keyless entry lock on the front door so all you need is a 4 digit pin.
There is fast and strong wifi throughout the house, so bring your devices. A Nest thermostat keeps the house and humans happy.
Inside your bedrooms you’ll find two queen size memory foam beds in the first room, and one queen size memory foam bed in the second room. There are super soft and cool microfiber sheets, a comforter and duvet on each bed if you’re a warm weather soul, the normal boring sleeping pillows, and most importantly, a boatload of patriotic throw pillows. Oh, and there might be a delicious York Peppermint Patty on your pillow too...because dark chocolate is full of antioxidants, and mint is a plant, so it *must* be good for you. You’ve got side tables on either side of the beds with task lamps if you’re a non kindle reading in bed kind of person and two power strips for all your devices. The double queen bedroom faces South and has three giant windows, so if you open the blinds, you’ll get a ton of natural democratically elected light to fill your room, and your soul. The single queen bedroom has a North facing window that looks over the oh so exciting side of my house, backyard, alley, and neighbors yards. Ok, maybe it’s not so inspiring, but it gives you daylight if you open the blinds. That’s something right? Each bedroom comes with it's own lock and key.
I’ve got a fully stocked kitchen with most gizmos that you’d need. There’s the standard gas stove, gas oven, dishwasher, microwave, side by side fridge, and super deep sink. Pots, pans, dishes, glasses, you name it, are all for the taking. There is a coffee maker for making coffee, and a wide selection of teas from all over. I’m a tea dude. Oh, and a bunch of hot chocolate, because who doesn’t like hot chocolate? But wait, there’s more! I like free food, it’s one of my favorite things. So channeling my inner Oprah, I’m sharing my favorite things with you. Bacon, eggs, and orange juice are in the fridge whenever you’d like to whip something up. I’ve got a selection of instant oatmeals, granola bars, and fruit for you grab and go jet setting types. And most importantly, my cheap and yet favorite food, I’ve got a shelf of Cup of Noodles. #MicDrop
|____The Dining Room____|
I’ve got a giant table that is my current restoration project. It started it’s life as a conference table in a war room of a campaign I ran, and she’s been by my side ever since. You can eat here, work here, play here, whatever! There’s ample light for working, and I’ve got office supplies scatters on the shelves around it because MacGyver should have taught you that you can *always* use a paperclip.

A large 55” or 60”...I can’t remember...flatscreen TV with a Chromecast and cable, albeit standard definition cable. There’s a cabinet full of puzzles and board games if you ever need. A couch, sitting ottoman, and small bistro table for sitting and contemplating humanity. The couch has a pull out bed with bedding. Three large Southern facing windows provide ample light.
There is a full bathroom upstairs and a half bathroom downstairs. So keep in mind that means one shower and two toilets. I’ve got toiletries to your heart’s content. Individually sized shampoos, conditioners, and soaps await you in the upstairs vanity. But if you’re eco friendly, I’ve got the big bottles of name brand goodies in the shower :) Cotton balls, Q-tips, toothbrushes, and razors are all there too in case you forgot something.

If you need me, I am a simple text/email/call away!
The front steps to my front door are steeper than normal steps. They look normal, but your legs will feel it. Mentally prepare for that!
Washington DC has a trap, neuter, and release (TNR) program for feral alley cats in town, which is awesome. That means strays get caught, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and returned to where they were picked up. It helps to control the feral population and is also humane.
While no pets live inside the home a few of the alley cats have adopted my backyard so I watch after them, especially since they handle all the critters of city life. It’s a mutually beneficial relationship. They are super sweet and nothing like I had imagined from my TV version of alley cats. I hope that doesn’t make me sound like the young, sane, male version of the old crazy cat lady. #SquadGoals
A portion of each Airbnb rental goes to two programs, the CATNIPP program from the Humane Society in DC, and the Alley Cat Allies. Both do phenomenal work so your stay helps to do some good!

My name isn't John, and it isn't Michael. It's in fact John-Michael.
I'm a native of Cupertino, California (Where you iPhone comes from!) who has called Washington, DC home for well over a decade. In fact, I've lived in this exact house since 2006!
I enjoy intellectual debates and shamelessly trashy reality shows. While I can claim to be roughly 75% foodie, I would legitimately have no problem eating top ramen every day. It's a 3 minute sodium wonder.
During the day I run a political consulting firm. During the night I work probono as a Chief of Staff for a non-profit that produces Anime and Pop Culture conventions across the U.S. It makes for an interesting combination.
I'm a laid back traveler, and a laid back host.
