Roy's Room is part of the Scotchcoulthard Farm and Holiday Cottages business. It is a twin room with an en-suite shower room, fridge, kettle, toaster, TV.
There are three cottages in total along with a games room and indoor swimming pool in the summer.
Scotchcoulthard is set north of Hadrian's Wall just seven miles from Haltwhistle, the Centre of Britain. Not another inhabited dwelling can be seen. Dogs are welcome and we have our own who will greet you.
Set on a small farm within 180 acres it is surrounded by splendid scenery with magnificent views and not another inhabited dwelling in sight.
Scotchcoulthard is four miles away from The Military Road (B6318 which runs parallel to Hadrian's Wall). The last farm you pass is two miles away. If you want to really 'get away from it all' it is ideal. For those who prefer a more populated area it is not ideal! The farm track from the road is ½ mile long and can be a bit rough at times. However if taken slowly it is fine.
Dogs are welcome and our own dogs will welcome you. There is no extra charge and no restriction on number. For those who love dogs but don't have any, our dogs are happy to step into the breach!
Naturally there is plenty of wildlife. Red squirrels live in the surrounding forest along with badgers, deer, buzzards, foxes and many others.
The nearest town of Haltwhistle (named Centre of Britain) is seven miles away. It has a couple of supermarkets and local shops for most essentials. It has its own unique history including a 13th century church with stained glass windows made by William Morris & Co. in 1872. The windows were the work of Edward Burne-Jones, Ford Maddox Brown and Philip Webb who were Pre-Raphelite artists.
There are many walks in and around Haltwhistle with two walking festivals a year.
A burn running through Haltwhistle has a spectacular walk through beautiful scenery.
There is a Swimming and Leisure Centre with outdoor pool open from Easter until September.

We (Susan and Andy) live in the farmhouse and my parents (Bill and Margaret) live in a cottage. During the week my husband and myself work. I am part time and he is full time. However, my part time housekeeper (Sarah) is often around as are my parents if there are any problems.
Our dogs are usually wandering about and will welcome you. Should you wish to 'borrow' one for a walk that can be arranged!
