Good morning Madison, I have to agree I was just as uncomfortable asking you about your guests as you were being asked. When you booked your stay the reservation said 4 guests. I then asked you in an additional email for confirmation of just 4 guests.
I want to remind you and any future Lakehurst guests what it says in my house rules right on the Airbnb website to avoid further confusion. These house rules are also on the cover page of a “guide book” I provide in all of the cottages, that are right on the dining room table as you walk in.
These words are verbatim: **VISITORS** PRIOR APPROVAL is required for any and all guests of renters. Visitors will be kept to a minimum and may be subject to an additional charge per person.
Please understand this is our home. Living here on property with 4 cottage rentals, we need to know who is staying or visiting here at all times, as anyone would at their own home. When we see people on the property and we don’t know who they are or where they came from, we are going to ask.
Your friends were here and you were cooking dinner when this conversation took place, this is not something you were trying to explain before they got here. Just some communication such as a request prior to your stay or a request prior to your friends arrival could have eliminated this awkward situation. I hope this review helps avoid situations like this for my future renters, for you as a renter and for us as hosts.
I do appreciate the respect you and your friends showed otherwise for the property. You were quiet and left the cottage in great shape. Thank you.
