Le logement
Pristine 1870 Landmark Victorian in historic Corn Hill, minutes from downtown, the
U of R, airport, train and bus station. Comfortable, quiet accommodations include the living area and kitchen for your convenience. There is a small fridge outside your door and your private bath and laundry a few steps away. The bathtub/shower is an original claw foot tub. There is a walk-in shower you can use, if needed.

This charming house built in 1870 has gone through many transformations. The final one in 1980 put it back into its original configuration. The rooms are generous and cozy. The guest room is located in the front of the house and has a sunny southern exposure. My space is in the back of the house. Our spaces are separated by the attic stairs and the guest bath, ensuring privacy and quiet.

My home is open to you and your guests while you are here. Arrangements can be made ahead if you wish to entertain.
The piano and guitar like to be played! Music was a such large part of Victorian living and I like to see that it is carried on today.

I will be on board to assist you in any way I can.

Originally referred to as "The Ruffled Shirt District", Corn Hill was the first neighborhood settled nearest to the commercial or downtown area and the Erie Canal. Originally it was occupied by merchants, city officials and common workers creating the unique placement of mansions interspersed with stately homes and cottages.
The canal has since been re-routed but the Genesee River is still a 5 minute walk.
The current neighborhood is unique in many ways. A prominent feature being the desire and effort made to maintain the Victorian sense of community that offers generosity and support to all who wish for it.
The Corn Hill Festival, held annually on the weekend following the 4th of July, draws thousands into the neighborhood for this highly rated music and arts festival. Over 300 volunteers make this festival successful and have been doing so since 1968. 2018 marked the celebration of 50 years of art, music, food and friendly camaraderie. The festival is a key factor in the uniqueness of this neighborhood, however it is the folks dedicated to community that truly define our streets. Historic homes dating back to the 1830's of varied architectural design make for a great walk. Five minutes to the Genesee River for a view of the dramatically lit skyline and good restaurants.

Located in the heart of the city we are conveniently located for traveling about, be it by car, by bus or bike.

Rochester is rich with festivals! Beginning with Maple Sugar Festival, March 17th, the Lilac Festival May 11th through the 20th, The Taste of Rochester, June 8th, 9th, Rochester Real Beer Expo, June 9th, Xerox International Jazz Festival June 22-30, The Memorial Art Gallery's Clothesline Festival on September 8th and 9th. And 12 days of the unique, international, Fringe Festival September 10-21 Just a few of the exciting events happening in Rochester over the summer and
not an inclusive list by any means.

Accès des voyageurs
You're welcome to utilize the kitchen for breakfast and the living room for relaxing, reading or TV.

Autres points à prendre en note
I provide cozy robes and slippers for your convenience.

An historic neighborhood adjacent to downtown, unique for the annual 2-day Corn Hill Arts and Music Festival always held the weekend following July 4, and the annual Tour of Historic Homes held on the first Saturday in December.
Profits from these memorable events fund close to 12 active committees dedicated to the prosperity, safety and community of our residents. This is a neighborhood where opportunities for connections and active involvement abound. Folks from blocks away may meet at a committee meeting or at one of the monthly social activities sponsored by the Social Committee or one of the frequent gatherings hosted by neighbors, and become best friends! Our goal is to renew the spirit of the Victorian Era, when neighbors knew each other and rested in the comfort of knowing there is support and aid during times of need and joy. We see these stories play out time and time again in Corn Hill. Please check out our website at cornhill.org

As a native Rochestarian, and 25 years in this home, I know of many of the local gems and can help you get around Rochester. Whether you're in the pursuit of food, culture or nature walks, I welcome the opportunity to help make your stay satisfying. I can be as visible or invisible as you'd like. I enjoy meeting people of different backgrounds, exchanging stories and ideas. I've traveled to several locations in Europe, New Zealand, Tasmania and Central America, along with fairly extensive travel throught the U.S. My education and training from Syracuse University was in Clinical Social Work. My career was at the University of Rochester Medical Center. Now I'm retired and spending time volunteering and exploring. My life motto is "We all do better, when we all do better."
