We couldn't have asked for a better weekend in The Lakes. Ian's cottage is beautiful, with a wood-burning fire for the evenings and a beautiful conservatory and garden with great views for the daytime. Everything you need is easily accessible. The cottage is located 1 minute walk away from a steam-train station that enables you to get to the coast easily. Alternatively, we took a walk up to some incredible waterfalls about an hours walk away and then got the train back as we had a little one with us - it was perfect. There is also a lovely pub 5-10 minutes walk away that sells delicious food. There's also a local shop about a 5 minutes drive away. Ian gave us very useful directions and made us feel incredibly welcome. I would wholeheartedly recommend.

Lovely comfortable cottage. It's a great location for walking and running straight from the property, and also for very hilly road biking. The conservatory is a real pleasure to sit in, views on three sides out over the beautiful garden and Eskdale valley. I'd recommend the Brook House Inn at Boot, excellent food and good veggie choice.

Lovely getaway. Very pretty location and beautiful garden. House itself is well looked after, very clean and generally pleasant. The fire is especially nice!

A beautiful cottage in a remote and stunning area of the Lake District. We loved our stay but you should know it is a long windy drive well into the Lakes and avoid Hardknott Pass at all costs - DO NOT follow Sat-Nav (from Ambleside the Sat-Nav will take you the shortest route, plan this stage with a road map - take the main roads from Ambleside into Eskdale Valley.) Once we had recovered though we had a great time. The cottage is extremely pretty, quiet, walking distance from a pub and the Woolpack pub further up the road (2 mins drive) does great food (recommend the Cumbria Tatty!) and wine. Great trail within walking distance from the house, past the nearest pub, right, over the bridge, turn left - you have an amazing, stunning trail. The Ratty Train is a minute walk from the house, the kids loved it! So did we. Muncaster Castle is a great visit for kids too - we spent the whole afternoon exploring the grounds - really beautiful. I would recommend this house for sure, warm and cosy with everything you need.

Ian's cottage was a wonderful place to stay. Beautiful scenery around it and great for exploring the Lake District. The cottage itself is a real gem. The fireplace in particular was a bonus and Ian very kindly left us some to use which was great in the evenings. Would definitely recommend again!

The location, in a remote part of the Lakes, was idyllic. The cottage was clean and tidy, and Ian was a pleasure to communicate with, always prompt. The complimentary logs were welcome considering it was a typical British summer holiday ie cold and rainy. Oh and a shout out for the excellent local store, well stocked with local food and outdoors equipment!
