Ice House Cottage is set in an exceptional location, on the edge of a Scottish estate. It's an extremely comfortable cottage, decorated in elegant and traditional style - I very much wanted the mahogany press in the main bedroom to come home with me! The cake which was left to welcome us was one of the best I've ever eaten - a mocha cake filled with coffee cream. The garden was secluded and pretty, and the walks into the castle gardens were a particular highlight of the stay. Beyond the castle, the Galloway coast is beautiful - with a range of things to do ranging from National Trust properties to second-hand books in Wigtown, to coastal walks, to clay shooting. A three-day-long Monopoly game in front of a roaring wood fire made the rainy parts of each day into a pleasure. Thanks so much to all the team at the castle. We loved our stay.

The property information provided was great and we found the property easily - it was nice to get a personalised letter when we arrived. The cottage was lovely, great attention to detail & lovely extras - flowers, homemade cake and wine were much appreciated. The location was just what we wanted - secluded & quiet with walks straight from the door and a lovely garden. We even managed a few meals in the garden dodging the rain showers! The Castle Kennedy gardens were fabulous and great that the cottage booking included free entry. Many thanks for such a welcoming & relaxing place.

Ice House Cottage is a little gem. We LOVED our stay. The cottage was warm, cosy and sparking clean. Very comfortable beds, a log burner in the lounge and very well appointed cottage kitchen. The garden and little woods are lovely and there are complimentary bikes. But the very best surprise was getting up for an early morning walk ... and finding a wonderful stream, leading on to a beautiful Lock (Black Loch) and then walking the amazing landscapes of Castle Kennedy Gardens. We had an great stay. Thank you to the very helpful Estate team. Big thanks for the super 'Arrival' cake and hello to John-the-Farmer who herded me back on to the roads when my sat nav drove me in the wilderness (a lot) .... :)) A wonderful holiday home for couples, families, dog owners or any one that appreciates nature, walking and out door life.

This is an outstanding cottage in a really great location. It's a new property I believe and completed to a very high standard with everything needed for a very comfortable stay. It is a little different from the rest of our BnB stays in that it is part of a larger estate so less contact with the hosts than we've been used to. The arrival was very well organised and we were given all the information we needed too make the most of our stay The estate is stunning with lots of really good walks from the cottage as well as being close to the coast and many places to visit. The standard of the property, its location and the surrounding area means that this is a first class choice. Can't recommend it highly enough. Thank you for a great week. Nigel and Maureen

We are 2 retired sisters from the USA who stayed at Ice House Cottage for 7 nights. It is an idyllic location in our favorite part of Scotland. The cottage is spacious, immaculately clean, and has been refurbished with high quality furniture and finishes. The kitchen is fully equipped, as though it was planned by someone who cooks. It has a beautiful garden of its own, with patio, and is surrounded by pastures and woodlands. It is located on a single lane, private road within the estate where you can walk or bicycle for miles (bikes for all ages are provided). The Castle Kennedy gardens are beautiful and have paths that can be explored for hours. We saw red deer, wild hare, grouse and uncounted geese, ducks and birds, plus heards of cows and sheep. The only downside was that WiFi at the cottage was slow and only worked intermittently because of problems with the provider. However, the Castle Kennedy Tea Room has free, high speed WiFi. Emily is a great host, who provided a welcome package of wine, homemade cake (delicious), milk, eggs, and bread to get us started. She responded to all communications promptly, stopped by to see that everything was satisfactory, and sent staff to follow up on the WiFi. A special thank you to Emily and all the staff who made us feel at home.

Dear Ronnie and Bonnie, thank you for your lovely review which we greatly appreciate. We are thrilled that you had a lovely time. Everyone really enjoyed meeting you and you both are much missed! Thank you for the suggestion about the mirror which sounds like a great idea, and we are working on ways to improve the WiFi signal with the provider at the cottage. We hope you will visit us again and wish you both safe travels.
