I am a physician and writer and an avid Nordic, Telemark and backcountry skier; I am also a very experienced hiker and backpacker, with countless trips under my belt in the North Cascades and in the canyon country of Utah and Arizona. I live with two large Bernese Mountain Dogs on 20 acres; The property and the house feels quite remote, yet I am only 3 miles outside of Winthrop, Washington. I have two grown children and one baby grandson, all of whom live in Seattle.
I have worked and traveled extensively in Ethiopia, Kenya, `Tanzania, Haiti and Nepal; I lived for three years in northern Germany during the reunification. I currently work in a volunteer position as co-Director of SCOPE, a non-profit that is a partnership between the University of Washington Department of Global Health and the Ethiopian Orthodox Church; we work to improve uptake of existing maternal-child health services and HIV/AIDS testing and treatment in northern Ethiopia.
I would love to welcome you into my home, perched high above the Chewuch River in the spectacular, 4-season playground of the Methow Valley and would find it a privilege to introduce you to the recreational, community and cultural activities in the valley.
