Le logement
Whether it's for a romantic break for two or a family gateaway, Drumbarron Cottage offers the perfect retreat to relax and unwind. The Cottage which has been lovingly restored it is just on the outskirts of the town, (town centre less than 5 mins walk) you will feel like you are in the countryside as you enjoy the mountain views from the house. The cottage is finished to a high standard throughout. It has beautiful cream sash windows and all the rooms have their own distinct style. With 3 bedrooms it accommodates 6 people comfortably.

At the heart of the house is the kitchen and the room that is most used. With a dining table, a sofa and a rocking chair, this room you won’t want to leave !! It has a wooden beamed ceiling, hand painted units and furniture, all of which gives it a lovely country charm. A solid fuel stove which has a back boiler adds to the cosy feeling of the room.

All our bedrooms feature 10ft high beamed ceilings and cast iron fireplaces. The fireplaces were found when we removed the walls during the renovations ! With a little love and care we were able to restore them back to their original glory.

Bedroom 1: With French toilet wallpaper and deep pile purple carpet this master bedroom has a king size sleigh bed, built in wardrobe and mountain views. It has an Ensuite with electric shower.
Bedroom 2: This bedroom has original wooden floors and is finished in lovely tones of yellow and lemon. With a double bed it is situated at the back of the house and is next door to the upstairs bathroom.
Bedroom 3: This Bedroom aas painted original wooden floor boards and beautiful Laura Ashley floral wallpaper. With the use of floral prints, the hints of green and pink colors this room has a “shabby chic” feel with the two single cream cast iron style beds finishing of the look. Situated at the front of the house you can enjoy the mountain views from this room.

We have one En-Suite from Bedroom 1, a Bathroom on the 1st floor and a Shower Room on the ground floor. Along with the original wooden floor the bathroom also features painted tongue and groove panelling with a beautiful Laura Ashley printed wallpaper. The main feature point of course is the roll top bath which is ideal for soaking away the stresses of the day!

In addition to the upper floor bathroom a ground floor shower room features a traditional style shower with rain head, a mid level W/C and hand basin by Burlington. This is an elegant room with touches of grey and purple.

Ardara, County Donegal, Irlande

Ardara is a heritage town which rose to prosperity in the 1700’s thanks to its popular markets and fairs. You can learn about its rich history by visiting the informative Heritage Centre in the heart of the town. It is now most famous for its tweeds and of course its festivals. Regarded as the ‘ Festival Capital of Donegal’, the town plays host to numerous events throughout the year. For the lover of music there is plenty, including the Cup an Tae Traditional Music Festival (May) and the Johnny Doherty Traditional Music Festival (September)! Find your bull at the Agricultural Show in August or your beaux at the Matchmaking Festival (November). For lovers of tweed you can see these talented craftspeople at work at one the several long established family run businesses still operating in the area.

Nearby is the stunning Narin & Portnoo links golf course with breath taking views of Gweebarra Bay. For those who don’t fancy braving the challenge that the links provides there is fun for all the family at the local pitch and putt course. Within a short drive your will find a range of popular scenic attractions. The jaw dropping views at Glengesh Pass will delight walkers, cyclists and drivers alike. Not to be outdone the pristine white sand of Maghera beach shouldn’t be avoided. Spend hours exploring this unpolluted coastline and its craggy caves, designed by the great Atlantic Ocean itself!

If you are a fan of the outdoors there is an International Walking Festival (March) – or step it out on The Bluestack Trail or Slí Cholmcille(The Colmcille Way) two challenging 65km trails showcasing what Ardara and its environs have to offer.

Numerous lakes, rivers and the great Atlantic offer up plenty of fishing opportunities. And you are spoiled for choice with horse riding, cycling and water-based activities including surfing, wind surfing and sea kayaking.
