Where to start... we stayed in Alicia's 'Cannes City Center Studio' for a week as we were attending the Cannes Film Festival and by the end of our stay we didn't want to leave. The room itself is a charming space full of all the essential amenities and things that make lodgings feel like a home away from home. Very clean, secure (personal key & building code), reliable temperature control, big windows (that we would often open to take in the views), ample light sources, television, work-desk (used it often for postcards), a comfortable pull out bed with fresh sheets and firm pillows, quiet at night, and less that a 10-minute walk to just about anything there is to do or eat in Cannes. They were always on call and quick to respond in the way a good friend is. Even when our departing flight was cancelled and we were stranded without a transportation or a hotel room (Cannes Film Festival and the Grand Prix had them all booked up), they were on their way within 5 minutes and took us in for an additional night without frustration or reservation. You can depend on them, and that's worth every penny.
But even more important for us were the personal touches: a warm welcome in a foreign place goes a long way and these hosts really set the bar high for the rest of the trip. From the moment Alicia and family picked us up from the Nice airport (at a considerable discount when looking at taxi fares), we felt like we had family in Cannes. We were taken on a mini tour through the coast on the way to the apartment and were immediately given cultural and logistical suggestions that really helped in the long run (Where to swim, where to eat, how to mail a letter, which train to catch, and shoot, they even helped is with planning our trip to Paris). A genuine French breakfast awaited us every morning, which turned out to be some of my favorites parts of the trip -- eating warm croissants and sipping on that piping hot coffee while sharing language, culture, and laughter started us out refreshed and ready to face the day. They even packed us a breakfast when we had to catch a 7am train to Paris, which turned out to be a lifesaver.
We truly had a blast. Simply put, they are genuinely good people and they really care about their accommodations. We lucked out on booking this room for the festival, and when we return this will be the first place we request. Do yourself a favor and book with them while there is still a vacancy.
