This woodland garden retreat is close to state parks, Olympic & Mt. Rainier National Parks, and Puget Sound. You’ll love the open concept design, peaceful wooded setting, and signature & seasonal breakfasts. (The host is an award-winning baker.) Our place is ideal for large groups (4+), families, students, international travelers and adventurers.
Our peaceful wooded lot has towering fir trees, wildflowers and berries, a fairy garden, vegetable & herb gardens, bird feeders, bird houses and birdbaths. Feel free to stroll to the fairy garden. Relax on the garden bench or patio. Enjoy the birds, flowers and tranquil fountain along with the wafting scents of jasmine, roses, honeysuckle and heliotrope. Watch for hummingbirds at the fuchsias and hanging baskets. Creatures of the forest seen on the property include Douglas squirrel, chipmunk, rabbit, raccoon, fox, deer, bald eagle and quail.
We are close to Joemma Beach & Penrose Point state parks, the Purdy spit (Henderson Bay), Gig Harbor waterfront, and Tacoma Narrows bridge. Walk to nearby Carney Lake or Koeneman Lake Trail.
Enjoy day trips to Seattle, Tacoma, Gig Harbor, Olympic and Mt. Rainier National Parks.
There are many attractions, festivals and events in the area. We encourage you to go explore!

Guests will have access to the guest suite and the common areas: great room, kitchen & dining areas, and patio.
Microwave in kitchen; chiminea and grill on patio.
The guest suite and nearby common area are most suitable for large groups. There are four queen air mattresses on portable bed frames, and three twin air mattresses (and a play yard) available to accommodate up to eleven additional short-term guests. A second larger suite (Woodland Garden Retreat) can accommodate up to 4 guests and may be booked separately; if you have a small party of 1-3 people, please book this room.
Although we are not wheelchair accessible, there are only 2 small steps up to the front door of our one-story home.
Because of the mild climate (average temps 45-75 degrees) in our area, most homes do not have central air conditioning; however, a portable air conditioner is available for use during excessively hot weather. There is a portable fan and heater in the suite.
There is a TV in the great room and a DVD player in the room.
Iron & ironing board are in the laundry room. Washer & dryer available, if needed.

We moved from the mid-Atlantic to the Pacific Northwest 14 years ago. We love the natural beauty of the area and mild climate of Western Washington. We enjoy traveling; Diane was a foreign exchange student and backpacked through Europe. We are active and like hiking, sight-seeing, snowshoeing, boating, fishing, gardening, grilling, cooking; love hosting family, friends and guests.
