Hi Laurence, It sounds like you were disappointed with your stay. We wished you had a better experience at our place and in the city of Portland. We would like to kindly remind you that AirBnb is not a hotel, the premisse is simple: real people opening their loved homes and hosting open-minded travelers. We have never had any complaint about our home - on the contrary everyone has thoroughly enjoyed their stay.
First, we told you from the beginning of our communication when you booked with us (three months before your stay) that we wouldn't be in town, and that our friend, an experienced property manger, would be helping you in the event that you needed anything. We also told you that the keys would be in the key lockbox when you arrived. Through our messages back and forth you agreed to that (we have the messages saved in case you need help remembering).
Additionally, as we never had any problems and none of the guests before had challenges with the cleanliness of our home, the only possibility is that the person who cleans our house missed some spots, or the guests before you left the fridge dirty and it was missed between cleanings. Our friend checked the house before you and your family arrived and everything was ok according to her. The reports that you made about the dirtiness of the house are just not true - multiple other guests stayed in our home while we were away this summer and we had no complaints about anything you have reported.
Regarding the information about places to visit and how to get around, while hosts are not mandated to provide this, we have and had available the greeting page with the information requested. We also made it available at the guest resource on the Airbnb page.
Last, we felt it was weird to hear complains from you since your last message was "Thank you so much, you are very helpful (…) We just couldn't see it..we got confused (...) We are sorry for the inconvenience. Thank you for your understanding. Regards. Family Lauredin". ----
We hope you get used to the Airbnb website and process. Note that you can always ask for help at the help center at the Airbnb page. The community also help each other. We hope you have a better experience next time.
Regards, Rodrigo and Dunya
