À propos de ce logement

This cosy cottage is ideal as a romantic getaway cottage. The small entrance hall leads into the living area with a stone flagged floor covered with rugs. This room rises high into the pitch and has roof lights and windows catching the early morning sun(URL HIDDEN)
The bedroom has a super king bed, can be split into twin upon request.

Le logement

Set on a small farm within 180 acres it is surrounded by splendid scenery with magnificent views and not another inhabited dwelling in sight.

Scotchcoulthard is four miles away from The Military Road (B6318 which runs parallel to Hadrian's Wall). The last farm you pass is two miles away. If you want to really 'get away from it all' it is ideal. For those who prefer a more populated area it is not ideal! The farm track from the road is ½ mile long and can be a bit rough at times. However if taken slowly it is fine.

Dogs are welcome and our own dogs will welcome you. There is no extra charge and no restriction on number. For those who love dogs but don't have any, our dogs are happy to step into the breach!

Naturally there is plenty of wildlife. Red squirrels live in the surrounding forest along with badgers, deer, buzzards, foxes and many others.

The nearest town of Haltwhistle (named Centre of Britain) is seven miles away. It has a couple of supermarkets and local shops for most essentials. It has its own unique history including a 13th century church with stained glass windows made by William Morris & Co. in 1872. The windows were the work of Edward Burne-Jones, Ford Maddox Brown and Philip Webb who were Pre-Raphelite artists.

There are many walks in and around Haltwhistle with two walking festivals a year.

A burn running through Haltwhistle has a spectacular walk through beautiful scenery.

There is a Swimming and Leisure Centre with outdoor pool open from Easter until September.

Accès des voyageurs

There is a games room and a swimming pool which you are welcome to use. We provide towels for the pool when it is switched on (Easter until Sept, Oct half term).
We also have a small kitchen in the games room area which has freezers with our own farm produce and a gas cooker which you may use.
You can walk anywhere on our land and then we are surrounded by forest and common land.

Échanges avec les voyageurs

We (Susan and Andy) live in the farmhouse and my parents (Bill and Margaret) live in a cottage. During the week my husband and myself work. I am part time and he is full time. However, my part time housekeeper (Sarah) is often around as are my parents if there are any problems.
Our dogs are usually wandering about and will welcome you. Should you wish to 'borrow' one for a walk that can be arranged!

Lovely cottage, lovely people, lovely, dogs, lovely sheep, lovely pigs, lovely nature, lovely welcoming cake, lovely rooms, lovely view, lovely terrace, lovely pool, lovely woods, lovely bed. Not so lovely height of the bathroom, not so lovely smell in the cupboards, not so lovely path to the cottage. However, a lovely stay and all in all a perfect holiday! Thx Susan & family!

Quiet and remote, Hope Sike is a small, cosy cottage in the middle of nowhere, exactly what we were looking for. The farm has a games room, which is perfect for rainy day entertainment. For less rainy days there are walking and cycling options a-plenty from the farm and several places to go within an hours' drive (Hadrians' Wall, Kielder Water, Kielder Observatory, Hexham, Carlisle). A pleasant, relaxing stay with friendly dogs providing a warm welcome every morning.

Hi Sarah I'm pleased you enjoyed your stay. Sorry about there being no-one to greet you. Unfortunately my parents are pretty hopeless at that part and they were on duty! I do try to make sure someone is there but sometimes have to ask them! Susan
