My place is close to great views and art and culture. You’ll love my place because of the coziness. My place is good for couples, families (with kids), and furry friends (pets). You can enjoy the stay as if in your second home, supported by a maid who will prepare food for you. The room is aircooled.

Decent neighborhood with professors of the University as immediate neighbors

This house is serene and well maintained but little tucked away in a remote residential area. Not very far from campus but away from the hustle. Its perfect if you are looking for peaceful time and transport is sorted.

Let me start by saying I would NOT RECOMMEND this place to anyone. We had a hellish experience and were basically fleeced as we paid more than Rs. 5000 for two days for a horrible stay. If you are looking to stay in Shantiniketan, please look up tourist lodging options in and around Vishwa Bharati campus online instead of such listings on Airbnb. Here are just some of the reasons I would never return to this accommodation or recommend it to anyone. - NO AMENITIES: Yes, the description on the listing said no wi-fi, but this place did not even have a heater to heat bath water. I paid close to 5k for two days and had no hot water in the accommodation. We asked the maid in the morning about the situation and she told us she had no idea about the lack of hot water. The exhaust fan in the bathroom did not work and the maid basically told us that it was disconnected and she had no idea how to switch it back on. The room had no cupboard - only about 2 dirty hangers for clothes. There were no shelves and the drawers under the mirror were broken and filled with cobwebs. Worst of all, the bed had no mattress. A thin strip of sponge was used as a mattress with a flimsy comforter on top. No extra bed-sheets or pillows were provided. There was no food at all when we arrived and mind you, if you want the maid to cook for you, you gotta pay extra. You would think the steep charges would cover that. When we entered, we asked the host if we could get any food. We were told that we should have informed earlier as it was too late to get any food at that time (this was around 8 p.m.). I had informed before that I was visiting with my aged parents but was told over the phone to walk up to Ratanpally market (a good 20 minute-walk through wilderness and pitch blackness) to get food ourselves. We requested the host to ask the caretaker to get us some food from the market as we had no means of transport and my mother was unable to walk but we were informed that the caretaker had left already and was too far away to get us anything. In the end, my father and I had to walk to a small shop nearby (the only shop close-by) to buy bread for a meal that night. I must re-iterate - I paid 5k for two days for NO AMENITIES AND NO FOOD INCLUDED. - ANTS: The "bed" (I used quotes to emphasize how uncomfortable and non-functional this so-called bed was) was covered in ants the morning after we arrived. We hadn't brought in any food into the room but noticed ants all over the floors too. We had to use insect repellent (surprisingly, the only useful thing that came with the accommodation) before...

I do not know what prompted them to take the location at heart of Bolpur when its location is clearly marked on (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) map. Its a home and not a hotel when they booked the place, I specifically asked them about requirement of food and that food will have to be arranged which I had done in the past for my guests. They didn't tell that food was required. However, I apologize for any inconvenience to them. I never claimed that I had a heater in the toilet. Regarding the exhaust fan I could have arranged its repair if intimated as I have arrangement for en electrician locally. The drawers cannot be broken as I have checked them this week itself. The rooms have been cleaned in my presence on Sunday. The bed has a sponge layer on a mattress. Yet I apologize for all the confusion as I am the host

Tucked away in a residential area that is 10 minutes walking distance from the Ratanpally market, the location offers peace in seclusion. We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 days stay at this house. Though Mr. Santo had been away on work, we received full assistance from the housekeeping staff to facilitate a comfortable stay. Mr. Santo helped us navigate too. The place is suitable for people who are willing to stay away from the common din and is comfortable with walking.

Wish I were there when you people checked in. Would like to host you two again. Try to come during holi. The basanta utsav is a treat for the eyes. However, If you don't like the crowd, then come during spring but not on the day of holi. Spring in Santiniketan is a riot of colors all around while some migratory birds still stay back in the ballavpur lake. Call before booking, I offer discount to repeat customers on case to case basis.

Had a lovely time staying here for Holi. The hosts are awesome - they were exceptionally helpful, welcoming and agreeable, and I really enjoyed meeting them and hope I meet them again! The house is in a beautiful bit of Santiniketan filled with interesting houses, and 15 minute walk from the university. Thanks for having us, you're a lovely family. Jules
