To preface, we ended up not staying in this particular place as there was a last minute maintenance issue, so I will comment on how great of a host Luca is and the great location of this place after spending a couple of days in Lucca. First, Luca was more than accommodating by actually finding us another place in a comparable location that was very nice and very modern and despite the second place costing more, he did not charge us anything extra. That is a tough situation for any landlord (I am one in the US so I know), but Luca manages like me where you can tell he takes pride in ensuring his tenants are taken care of and happy. We were in communication the whole time prior to the trip determining the logistics and he even met us in Piazza Napoleone, which is easy to find, and walked us to the apartment so there was no confusion about where to go. Knowing Luca cares about the tenant's experience this is a big plus that you cannot go wrong with. On the location of this unit, after spending time in Lucca, given that the address was originally Piazza del Giglio, this is a prime location that you couldn't ask for any better. Piazza del Giglio and Piazza Napoleone are beautiful squares where we actually spent some time our first night and walking around. They are pretty and large squares, but are relatively quiet at night so it likely will not interfere with your use of the place. Outside of that it was a 5 minute walk to pretty much all the main central attractions including Piazza San Michele, il Duomo di San Martino, Via Fillungo, the Piazza dell'Anfiteatro, the main wall entrance to get to the train station, the wall path, Pizzeria da Felice (recommended as the best pizza in Lucca and Pizza Spragia was also good (get the mascarpone and speck pizza, and the cecina pizza)),.... You cannot ask for a better location. In summary, when traveling, my main concern is the real estate maxim, "location, location, location." While we did not stay in this place due to the last minute maintenance issue, judging by the location, the pictures, and Luca himself by making sure we had a substitute place that was as good or better, you cannot go wrong with this place.
