I sent Lauren an Airbnb message to no response immediately after booking in early May. I had to send another message on June 25 in regards to how we would check in on June 26. I finally received a message from Lauren at 11pm June 25 describing checkin. After our flight landed and I turned my phone on, I received a text message from Lauren stating that there was a late check out and the room was not ready. So, we stayed out visiting some areas until 3pm when we finally went to the complex. The attendant gave me a key and said the room should be ready. We entered to no sheets or towels and a stained mattress pad. We told Lauren, and we're able to return at 10pm to sheets and towels, and we purchased a mattress cover to leave there after seeing the mattress pad.
Upon taking a shower, we found no bath mat and hair on the shower walls and bath corners. Preparing for bed, we found a large strip of caked dust along the bedside wall that must have been building for quite some time. The tenant directly next door played music loudly throughout the day, and both the building and hall connected to the room have significant pet and smoke smells. We could tell the people smoke inside of the building by the smells, and you can see it happening from the courtyard.
The location is pretty nice; being right next the the ballpark, 5 minute UBER to downtown, and having only a 15 minute drive to the beach was great. Between my fiancé and I, we used Airbnb a fair amount, and this was just not good. Lauren mentioned a co-host, so it almost seemed like she might not be around to oversee the place in the summer because a few of the reviews posted after we booked feel similar. No refund for the first day lost and issues and no refund of the cleaning fee despite lack of cleanliness.
