The Dragon House is situated on the edge of Exmoor National Park, just less than four miles from the village of Dunster in Somerset.
Formerly a pub and hotel this fabulous grade II listed manor house now provides the perfect retreat for a large family holiday, a special birthday celebration, reunions and large group stays.
The 300 year old house is steeped in character with a warm and welcoming feel, combined with tasteful furnishings while retaining many hotel-style features.
Having seen service in the past 300 years as a Methodist meeting house, pub and hotel, this fabulous grade II listed Manor House offers a fully-equipped commercial kitchen, a magnificent oak-beamed dining room with inglenook fireplace and your own cosy bar area with open fire, working bar optics and pumps.
The wood-panelled sitting room has a range of comfy sofas and sumptuous armchairs to provide plenty of room for everyone in your party.
There is a bright, sunny conservatory leading off the bar area, an ideal place to enjoy breakfast whilst overlooking the slate-cobbled courtyard and gardens. Through the stylish hallway, which has a wooden reception counter, the stairway leads to the first and second floors where most of the bedrooms are, all of which boast en-suites and a TV.
On the second floor you will find 2 further bedrooms and a games room with table football, TV, beanbags and an Xbox 360 ensuring everyone is entertained.
There are also two further en-suite bedrooms across the courtyard, each having their own entrance and with the top floor room enjoying views of the glorious gardens.
There is a large lawn, sun drenched courtyard and shady trees; plus a front garden area and further family garden with plenty of room for ball games.
In the immediate vicinity, there are a host of activities, including historic Dunster Castle, a day at the beach at Blue Anchor and rides on the spectacular West Somerset steam train to Minehead, and further afield are the picturesque coastal resorts of Porlock, Lynton and Lynmouth.
Accès des voyageurs
The Dragon House is your own large house for the duration of your stay.
When we converted the house from a Hotel we retained the commercial kitchen, which is great for budding or wannabe chefs
We have also kept the bar and this is usually the favourite room with the adult guests!
The bar can be stocked with local ales and ciders ready for your arrival (additional charge) and we have the original chillers and pumps to ensure you get an authentic bar experience.

The Dragon House shares the courtyard and gardens with our other small, 2-bed, holiday cottage.

We moved to Somerset 10 years ago and bought The Dragon House as a boutique hotel in need of some tlc.
After running the business and refurbishing the rooms we decided to take a break and now let the house for holidays, parties and celebrations.
With 2 young girls at school we love getting out in the beautiful Exmoor countryside and are always finding new walks.
We also love a bit of sunshine and would be happy to consider a house swap in the summer.
