A haven in the Himalayas on the left bank 3km from Manali.

Prini Ropa was built in 1985 as a family home. Using traditional building techniques and materials (pine wood and stone) the house is set in a secluded garden. The light and meditative space makes it an ideal place for painters, writers, trekkers, or anyone who just wants to soak in and enjoy the majestic Himalyas.

Le logement

There are two main bedrooms with en suite bathroom & one single room with a separate bathroom (not ensuite). There is a sitting room with traditional wood burning fire (Tandoor), a veranda round the house, a beautiful maintain garden and studio veranda overlooking the garden. It work well for a couple or individual taking the house for themselves or a family or group of friends. The house feels both intimate and cosy regardless if there is one person staying or 5.

Accès des voyageurs

Guests can access, the bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, sitting room with fire, veranda, garden and studio veranda. The studio space perfect for yoga / painting can also be used upon request.

I live and work in delhi. Sunita I have known since I was 2 years old looks after the house and the guests. She lives 5 mins away so is on hand to welcome you, talk you through the house and help with anything you need. She is a wonderful person.

Autres remarques

The house is beautiful old style house made with ceder wood throughout the house. There is a old fashion tandoor fire in the sitting room which is perfect for sitting round in the evening. The rooms are large, comfortable with large, clean basic bathrooms on suite. Some times there is an issue with water in the ensuite bathrooms. But we have built an external tank so there is always water and hot water somewhere in the house. There is a new modern separate bathroom and shower also in the house.

I grew up in this house in the 1980's from where my parents ran Manali's first trekking company. I love the house and visit as much as I can (not often enough) from delhi where I now live and work. We are using Airbnb so that hopefully more people will get to enjoy and use the house.

I have many close friends in Prini and Manali so there is a wonderful community feel to the place, while at the same time it is also secluded and private. Sunita who live 5 mins away now looks after the house. She is efficient, can solve almost any problem and is a wonderful host. She can also help put you in touch with people to organise any local excursions / activities. I highly recommend walking up towards Hampta at the back of the house. Its a private hydro project road so the number of cars allowed is limited. It has the most wonderful views of the Vally and you can reach by just walking out of the house and up the hill.

The house also has a new beautiful studio space which has been used for art residencies, yoga and retreats. This space can also be available upon request. Its veranda as seen in the photos is always available for use and a great place to enjoy the garden and hills from.

Geeta her husband Rakesh who life in a part of the house take care of the house on a daily basis, clean and can cook excellent simple India food.

I hoe you enjoy the house. Please write if you have any questions.
