In the heart of the picturesque 'Swiss Normandy' hills this is a large, rustic 3 storey village home. Ideal for large and multiple family groups, the house is within 40 miles of Caen, Bayeux and the D Day landing beaches. Swimming, kayaking, horse-riding, fishing, paragliding, rock-climbing & golf are all within 10 miles and the area is very popular for cycling and walking. Must-see Mont-St-Michel is just 1.5 hrs away, as are Honfleur & Deauville. There is a huge amount to see and do.
You will be renting the entire house and the space is very flexible, and well-suited for multiple family groups. There are 4 separate suites - each with their own shower room/wc. 3 have their own separate lounge.
The spacious, open-plan kitchen and dining area has new fitted kitchen, range oven, dishwasher and fridge and freezer of course. All 'mod-cons' you would expect including coffee machine. Dining table will seat 12 adults. Log burner in kitchen, and main lounge for when evenings are 'cosier'. Separate seating areas upstairs.
The study has a well-stocked library, and computer with internet access.
Lots of board games and DVDs as well as a couple of guitars for the musically-inclined.
Utility/laundry room with washer, dryer and separate WC.
Large garden with patio area ideal for barbecues and outdoor dining.
Accès des voyageurs
Main house, driveway and garden. Off-road parking.
(Separate outbuilding is not rented, but we and our family often stay here.)
Échanges avec les voyageurs
When we are staying at the separate gîte, we will be on hand for any enquiries. Otherwise have an English friend who lives locally who can help with any questions or issues. We are always available via phone, email or FaceTime.
This is an old 'character' house (built 1858) so has some uneven floors - the stairs on one side of the house are quite narrow so may not be ideal for the less mobile. The main double-bedroom with the roll-top bath and shower room is reached via a wider staircase so is easier to access. It is a rustic home so whilst it will of course be clean and comfortable, with modern amenities it has creaky floorboards and is not soundproofed. I would describe it as countryside "Shabby Chic" rather than 'urban and shiny' Any questions, do please ask before booking :)
- We politely ask you respect our neighbours with regard to noise and music.
- We are happy for a maximum of 2 dogs to enjoy their stay, but politely ask that they are not allowed on the furniture and stay on the ground floor only.
