The 1970’s cottage is recently renovated and is very welcoming, warm and cosy set in a beautiful garden surrounding the house. The cottage sits between Lake Taupo and the world famous Waitahanui River, renowned for its trout fishing. The property is also approximately a 50 minute drive from the Tongariro Crossing which is rated as one of the world’s best one day walks.
Waitahanui is a 7 minute trip into town by car for restaurants, cinema, pubs and tourist attractions etc following the magnificent lake frontage.

Quails’ Calling also borders on a Department of Conservation park where a well kept track follows the river up 15 kilometers. If you own bikes, bring them as the track is wide enough for trail biking. Of course the fishing is wonderful year round, so if this is your thing, bring the rods!

Shared lounge, kitchen. Quails' Calling is Bed and Breakfast, not a full time retreat where guests stay around the house for the entire day. Although, of course, guests may come and go throughout day, it is a base for guests to go out and about during the hours of 10am until 4pm.
Owner has 1 cat, a traditional New Zealand evening meal, at an extra cost of $40 per person is available (BYO) on early request, a roast with fresh vegetables in season followed by a dessert. (Special diets are unable to be catered for, best choice for these would be to eat in town.)A meal to remember!!! A full cooked breakfast is included in nightly price of $95.00.(NZD) If owner needs to work, (owner is an 'on call teacher' and doesn't know from day to day if a call out would happen when guests are staying) all breakfast food will be provided, however, guests would need to cook this for themselves.
I love to travel, garden and cook. I live in a beautiful unique part of New Zealand in a quiet, leafy district just outside of CBD Taupo. I love to walk up the river behind my home by the Waitahanui River enjoying many species of native birds and observing the trout. If I was to have a motto it would be "To treat others like I like to be treated myself". I enjoy reading and a variety of music. Having guests stay is a pleasure!
