We really enjoyed our trip to Vinales, one of the nicest places in Cuba (maybe in the world). The casa was so pretty nice, we had a warmth welcome and a wonderful (!) view to the Mogotes from the big terrace at the rooftop. The room was the best we had on our trip - big, clean, comfortable beds and a great silent air condition. The meals (breakfast and dinner) have been so delicious. Try it! The cocktails were refreshing after our trips in and around Vinales. The family recommended nice trips to us, organized them very well and helped us in every situation. It is such a lovely family with a big heart. They made our time in Vinales so special. We would always recommend this beautiful casa! Muchas gracias por todo Mamita, Maijey y Chuchi.
The location of Chuchi and Mamita's house is great. It is walking distance to the town plaza and main street where all of the restaurants and activities are. The room itself is bigger than the pictures seem. It is clean and the AC works well. There are mosquitoes in the room during the day so bring bug spray. The bathroom is clean but does not provide any soap including hand soap so bring that for yourself. The terrace is beautiful and provides a great view of Vinales. Upon check-in we didn't have a warm welcome from the hosts. They asked for our passport which is normal for Cuban hosts to document your passport number in their immigration log, but they also asked for our visas to verify how we entered the country. We left our visas at our homestay in Havana so to not risk losing them. I stayed with two other Cuban hosts during this trip and no one had asked for my Visa, only the passport. Chuchi and Mamita were not happy with us that we didn't bring our visas and called immigration to ensure we were okay. This was very strange. After that we asked what activities were going on in the town that evening as it was the May 1st holiday and we were looking for salsa dancing. Mamita said nothing would be going on because it was a Monday. We decided to go into the town anyways and found a big party with a live band in the town plaza and a club with salsa dancing. Besides not having a warm interaction with the hosts, they did help us setup activities to go horseback riding to a coffee/tobacco farm and rent bikes for a day to ride through the mountains. I highly recommend both activities. The guides were great and reasonably priced. Vinales is beautiful and everyone in the town was very kind.
