Close to hiking, cycling, rafting, zip-lining, ATVing and the scenic Durango-Silverton train ride as well as Mesa Verde National Park and quality water fly-fishing etc. Only 8 plus miles to a variety of restaurants in town. Enjoy cool mountain breezes, aromatic pines, and wonderful views from our 8200 ft. elevation newly installed patio. Your room in our architect/owner-designed home is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and families (with a child or maybe 2 small ones)
Located on 6 acres of a forested mountain at 8200 feet elevation The room is spacious and was originally geared to fly-tying and guests. Wood paneling and natural colors create a forest ambiance. The new firm but plush top queen bed is very comfortable....and the fold down futon is firm but fine for kids. Extra blankets available. We have a partial kitchen with sink, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, hotplate, refrigerator, and cleaning products. At this altitude, air conditioning is generally not needed in the summer months but we do have a ceiling fan, box fan and portable evaporator cooler. A heater will keep you cozy during cool mornings.
Accès des voyageurs
Guests have access to the yard. We recently added a new patio with great views and breezes outside the private back entrance but will be covered with snow in the winter. A fire pit for roasting marshmallows is near the entrance as well; however we appreciate you checking with us first regarding recent fire restrictions. The owners appreciate your respect of their privacy/space as we respect yours. We are happy to visit with you.
Échanges avec les voyageurs
We are often at home and are available by phone or text if away from the house. We are a knock away from your room (glass door adjacent to your room in the hall) and would love to visit and answer any questions you might have. If there is something you need which is not in your room please let us know.
Chaco, our chocolate lab, may be there to greet you. He may bark to show you who is boss, but he loves any attention. If you are concerned about cell service, we have a network extender which works with Verizon...others may be iffy on the mountain. We are hauling water currently so appreciate your conservation of our water - delivered once a week. Wear good footwear if hiking around the area. Since we are 8 miles from groceries you may wish to bring some food with you. We provide some continental breakfast items.
