The County Queen has the warmth of home. Curated with a mix of vintage and modern. Ideally located within walking distance of downtown Picton and the Harbour. Just a short drive to the stunning beaches of Sandbanks Provincial Park and the charming towns of Bloomfield and Wellington.

Le logement
We are close to Main St in a historic residential neighbourhood. A short walk to restaurants, shops, cafes, parks, and Picton harbour. You’ll love our place because of the location and charm. We are a short drive to Sandbanks Provincial Park, Bloomfield, Wellington, Waupoos and the numerous wineries, craft breweries, farms and hiking and biking trails.
Good for couples, groups of friends, and anyone looking to experience the charm of the County. We provide a vehicle pass to Sandbanks Park good from April 1 - November 30.

Our space has been recently updated and is fresh and clean.

All bedrooms have new Endy mattresses for a very comfortable sleep.

There are 2 yoga mats available and space in the living room, dining room or back deck to stretch out on them.

You have access to the entire house except the basement.
There is a large backyard with a deck that sits in the shade of large nut tree. A canopy tent is put up for spring-fall to ensure shaded seating. There is a gas barbeque and comfortable seating on the back deck.

We are always available by text or phone, but there is a local property manager available to address any issues if necessary.

The County Queen is a short walk to the Main Street of Picton, but far enough away to be removed from the all the activity. Nestled in a pocket of historical residential homes.

Sandbanks Provincial Park is a 10 min drive away. It has two of the largest freshwater baymouth sandbars in the world. We supply a Vehicle Pass which includes 4 people.

You will find over 40 winemakers in one of the fastest growing wine-regions in Canada. You can create your own wine tour based on what you prefer.
(We can provide a link to resources to help you do that)
There is also a burgeoning craft beer, cider and spirits scene to be enjoyed if that's your preference. Coined as the Gastronomic Capital of Ontario, make a day of it and tour the wineries, farmers markets & stands, cideries, breweries and distilleries.

The charming towns of Wellington and Bloomfield are a 15 minute drive away. The Farmers Market runs every Saturday 8am-1pm in Wellington from May long weekend to October long weekend and is a great chance to meet local farmers, artisans, bakers and get a taste of the local riches. The roots of The County are linked to our farmers. Please support them while you are here.

There are many dining choices, but here are a couple of reco's in Picton that we really enjoy:
For an intimate rustic pub-grub style meal with live acoustic music The Acoustic Grill at 172 Main Street is a 5 min walk from the house.
For a more formal meal you could walk to The Merrill Inn or a 10 min drive to Blumen...both are memorable.
7 Numbers at 161 Main St. is also a 5 min walk from the house. It features delicious Southern Italian Soul food. Open Thursdays through Mondays.

The Regent Theatre is also a short walk away on Main Street. It began as a movie theatre in 1918 and then hosted vaudeville acts in the 1930's. It is now a fitting centre for the arts community in PEC, hosting live theatre, music and movies. Due to COVID their box office is currently closed. But the architecture of the theatre adds charm to the downtown strip.

The Glenwood Cemetary two blocks south of Main Street off Ferguson St. has 62 acres of rolling hills, majestic mature forests, and winding roads. Highly recommend this for an early morning walk. This 1873 cemetary was designed by the same architect that designed the Mount Pleasant cemetary in Toronto.

While getting lost on the back roads is part of the true County experience, here are a few tips and resources to help you get to your destination in the County safe and sound:

Navigation

GPS can be wonky in Prince Edward County. Be sure that your device is routing you to your desired destination before travelling.

Mobile reception is limited in some areas. Grab a good old-fashioned paper map to ensure you have a back-up if reception kicks out.

Look for and pick up a copy of the Chamber of Tourism and Commerce's Red Map - available throughout The County (or at the Chamber of Tourism and Commerce's Office) - to get you to your destination without any trouble.

There are a couple of taxi services available if you want to leave the car at home:
Cronkie's Cab Company - #(PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN)
Terry's Taxi - #(PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN)

John and I are both self-employed. We sporadically work in the city but our heart is always in the country. We live in a passive solar house on a rural property and enjoy our vegetable garden and chickens. We were introduced to The County by our daughter who is studying viticulture. We fell in love with it as most do. We traded our cottage for a charming vacation home in Picton. We hope you enjoy it as your own.
