This rustic century old log cabin is situated on over 150 acres of pristine UNESCO designated wilderness. The one and one-half storey open concept cabin has a fully equipped kitchen/dining area, a wood stove, two queen size beds upstairs, a composting toilet, an adjacent shower house and a screened-in porch.
Hike the many trails around beaver ponds, forests, and granite outcroppings, or enjoy the breath taking views from the top of Rice Mountain.
Wildlife abounds in this area, and deer, beavers, coyotes, porcupines, snakes (non-venomous), mice, wild turkeys, osprey, and all manner of insects call this property home (deer flies can be bothersome in July).
Locally grown organic produce, meats and cheeses from over 70 farmers (100 mile radius) are available 10 minutes from the cabin at Wendy's Country Market. Or take advantage of their home cooked take-out meals and picnic basket specials.
Rent a canoe or kayak in nearby Lyndhurst (5 minutes away) and explore the beautiful lakes, swim or enjoy world class fishing.
The cabin is in close proximity to many cultural, historic and natural sights, including Charleston Lake Provincial Park, Delta's Old Stone Mill National Historic Site, Gananoque and the Thousand Islands and historic Kingston. Less than a two and one half hour drive to Toronto and one and half hours to Ottawa, the cabin is ideally situated as a base to explore Ontario's rich history. This year is Canada's 150th anniversary, and there are numerous activities and special events planned to celebrate the occasion.
