Shatili is a remote village that is occupied for about 5 months of the year. During those months the tourists to villagers ratio is about 10:1. Very few people live here for 12 months because the road gets closed after mid October. They have to depend on stored supplies and infrequent helicopter services. Although cell phone works, there is no wifi in the entire village. There is satellite TV. To fins this place of Irma and her husband Dato was a pleasant surprise. Irma speaks very good English. Her husband Dato is a talented man who actually built both this house where we stayed and the Ethnic Hostel (a 12th century tower) nearby. Giorgi is NOT a slaes person for this place. Irma and Dato are his aunt and uncle. He himself has a tower in the main village which he did not renovate yet. The guest who complained about not getting hold of him did not know that he was going through a surgery during that time in Tbilisi. We did not meet him because he is still suffering from post surgical complications. I kept in touch by e-mail and sms and asked him not to try to come to Shatili but to get better. This "hotel" was an amazingly comfortable and super CLEAN place. Yes it is basic and rustic but everything works and everything is as I said once before SUPER CLEAN. Irma's food was phenomenal. It is basically full board because she provides so much food that you can make lunch out of the leftover. We are vegetarians and have to admit this is the best food we have had in Georgia in our one month of travel here. So much better than the famous restaurant Barbarestan in Tbilisi. The two children Tamari and her 3 year old brother Giorgi are adorable and very well behaved. We took the Marshrutka from Tbilisi on a Saturday. Giorgoi made our reservation with the safe and good driver Malkhaz. Dato drove us back on Monday for 350 GEL all the way to our Airbnb apartment in Tbilisi in a car with seat belts. Shatili is magical and this place made our stay that much more special. We would love to come back.

The location is perfect and Shatili is amazing ,but details in Georgi's description of the house weren't accurate, there was no tv, laundry, or hot tub like it was written in the description. Georgi was not reachable during our stay, what made us believe he is only a salesman for this property.
