Welcome to Ohakune "Where Adventure Begins". Those are the words that'll greet you as you enter from the south, by the famous giant carrot. That's where you'll find our home, just a short walking distance from the beginning of adventure and small stroll into town for hot coffee, good food and a nightlife that punches above its weight.
Position yourself here for your Ruapehu ski escape, do the famous Tongariro Crossing or rent a bike and smash some tracks. Your adventure begins here.
You'll feel right at home here. This house has everything you need to relax in comfort after a day hiking, skiing or biking. The spacious open plan living and dining areas are all within reach of the modern kitchen, making it really easy to gather your friends for a memorable time.
We've got this new fandangled wifi lock system, so we'll give you your own unique code for the duration of your stay. If that fails, we've got a backup key in a lockbox - so don't worry, you'll get inside.
We have covered parking for one vehicle and enough space for another uncovered. We also include free wifi internet and you're welcome to use Netflix on the Apple TV during your stay to binge watch a show or two.
As much as you'd enjoy me hanging around, We live in Auckland and won't be here. But we are always just a message away and can deal with anything remotely.
Ohakune is a cute ski town, but don't be fooled, it has a lot to offer all year round. From mountain biking to stunning nature walks and hiking the Tongariro Crossing. You'll have plenty to keep you occupied for a relaxing retreat or action packed escape.
Depends on your walking speed and how cold your toes are in the winter season, it shouldn't take you long to get into town. A couple of minutes by car or 15 - 20mins walk via the famous Ohakune Carrot. A perfect opportunity to get a selfie or seven.
For now, all heating and cooking are electric, including the hot water. This means if you're part of a large group the hot water could run out. We suggest you keep showers short and space them apart.
The TV uses a satellite. Please put the TV on Channel One using the Sony remote. Then use the Dish TV remote to change the channels.
Use the Sony TV remote, put the TV on HDMI 1 to access Apple TV. You're welcome to use the Apple TV to watch Netflix and YouTube but I do have a data cap so please go easy. Please leave the Apple TV turned on at all times.
If you have DVD's you want to watch, you can access the DVD player by using the Sony TV remote and changing to Video 3.
ELECTRIC INDOOR FIREPLACE
The indoor fireplace looks real, but it's electric. To turn it on, use the switch on the left-hand side of the entertainment wall (next to the DVD player). If that switch doesn't work, you can check the fireplace itself by opening the panel on the front of it. The panel pulls down just below the glass and you'll find another switch there.
