This place is indeed one of a kind! You feel like you´re in a different point in time... The house brings you back to the pioneer days... it´s very pretty, old-style (but renovated) and full of antique furniture and objects that give it a very special feel. Gorgeous floors and beams. The setting is fantastic, overlooking a very serene lake, with no neighbors in sight. There is one other dock on the lake but I didn´t see anyone. There´s no dock in the house itself, the house is on top of a little promontory and it slopes down to the lake, so you have to sit besides the house, the view is very beautiful. I spent an extended weekend there, with terrible rainy and windy weather, which in turn had the advantage that no other people seemed to be around. I heard maybe three cars in four days! Quads are not allowed on that road although I did see a couple of them. I was looking for peace and quiet and I certainly found it. Cellphone reception is very good. The only bummer is that you have to bring your own linens and that the washer and dryer are somewhat dysfunctional and their use is not encouraged, which on a rainy weekend may have been handy, but not a big deal. The kitchen is perfectly well fitted. They also have a very beautiful collection of antique dishes and glasses which I didn´t dare touch, just in case! The bathroom is so pleasant, overlooking the lake, and could perhaps benefit from re-enameling the bathtub, which was pretty but somewhat damaged. There were not many mosquitoes at all, perhaps because there are no trees just beside the house and it is on top of a breezy hill. The makeshift gazebo was a bit uncomfortable to set up (specially if you are one person only) and when it is not up, it falls down in a way that it covers the back patio doors which overlook the lake, which is really too bad! Or maybe I didn´t know how to do it properly. Lois was always very responsive and replied to messages quickly. I was very lucky to book the house when he had Smart Pricing turned on and thanks to that I got it for half the rate. He was very honest and honored the booking, which is quite noteworthy. Had I paid the full rate I would have been more demanding, perhaps, but my experience has been fantastic. One note to dog owners: It´s very safe to walk around the roads with your dogs off-leash, as the traffic is really minimal. Regarding the lake, please note that it´s a very shallow lake (up to the chest of a German shepherd) and has quite a lot of stilt, and that combined with the very wet weekend and the impossibility to hose them down afterwards, made both my dogs get a skin infection. It´s probably fine with dryer weather, or if your dogs...
