A simple, eco-friendly, open plan cottage with wooden mezzanine and stone terrace. It is surrounded by trees and lush green space, near Namulonge research station.
The house was built over three years with careful design to use local materials, maximise light indoors, and create a pleasant, quiet space. There is a lot of space around the house, with fruit trees including mangoes, oranges, papaya, banana, guava as well as stands of pine, eucalyptus, teak, mahogany and indigenous species. The compound is full of bird life, particularly at sunrise and sunset - from the terrace it is easy to see sunbirds, turacos and many others.
Accès des voyageurs
The kitchen has a gas cooker, fridge-freezer and kettle as well as cutlery, plates etc.
Échanges avec les voyageurs
We usually rent the house while we are travelling, so are likely not to be there in person. However, there is always somebody on-site to assist guests, living in another house about 50 metres away in the same compound.
For most requirements such as food it's best to bring everything needed from Kampala. Only basic supplies are available in Namulonge trading centre.
- No shoes upstairs (due to wooden floor)
