Laurie and Tom are the kindest hosts you can imagine! They make sure you feel confortable and at home in their beautiful old house. If you want to enjoy the beautiful coast and you want to discover more silent places than Acadia, tom can tell you a lot of spots! Laurie suprised us whit banana bread and the best blueberry cake of Maine. You are not just their guests and go in the morning out and come back in the afternoon. We sat together looking at the stars and talking about the world! If you are tired and exhaustet, they will cheer you up! We felt full of energy after our days there!

Tom and Laurie were excited about having me as a guest and extremely welcoming. Their home, The Albatross, is an unfinished, 19th century house overflowing with rusticness and charm. The rooms are decorated with carefully selected antiques and the bed was cozy. It's located about an hour's drive to Acadia National Park/Bar Harbor in Steuben, Maine. There are many other coastal Maine locales within driving distance to explore. Tom was extremely knowledgeable about the coastal geography and recommended lots of places to visit while I stayed there. He went above and beyond to help me plan day trips to Cadillac Mountain, Schoodic Point, Petit Manan Wildlife Refuge, and Great Wass Island. He and Laurie even offered to take me on a guided kayak tour around Winter Harbor. With Tom and Laurie's advice and guidance, I had an amazing experience exploring coastal Maine!

Semi-retired restoration contractor. Currently developing this 1880s gingerbread house on a shoestring as a retreat and education center in Downeast Maine.
Pictures of the ongoing restoration are posted on the account The Albatross and pictures of the beautiful surrounding natural resources in features for recreational purposes are posted on Downeast Sojourn.
There are opportunities for exchange of Labor as a partial alternative to paying the full price to stay there.
Eventually the DownEast Sojourn is envisioned as a type of Club or non-profit organization to which you can belong for expanding individual and social awareness of the Land/Ocean interface which is currently on the move as a consequence of global warming.
