Stay in a room in an almost-treehouse homestead on an acre pond in the middle of town!
The house is an airy & spacious cabin floorplan on over an acre of land that looks out onto a private pond, and designed to be wheelchair accessible. There's chickens! Listen to the bullfrogs at night! Watch the turkeys parade through the yard! Catch a glimpse of our neighborhood bears!
A five minute drive to downtown Asheville, 10 minutes to the Blue Ridge Parkway, you're central to where you want to be.
The main bedroom + private bathroom is on the main floor, accessible by the short hallway right as you enter in the front door. The second room is down the stairs you see as you first enter the house and to the left.
The house was built in 1990 with wheelchair accessibility in mind, so it's a total level entry with wide case openings and doors. The houseplan is riff off of smaller cabin plans with clerestory windows that lend itself to thinking the place is much larger than it is.
There's an acre-sized stream-fed pond! It's swimmable around late June/early July and bottoms out at about 13' deep. If you're feeling brave or sweaty or just like to swim, jump in! But swim at your own risk, know your own skill level.
Utilize the deck! The teensy front patio! Lay out in the backyard! Relax on the float! Just be mindful of neighbors and the chickens.

Feel free to use the electric kettle and microwave in the kitchen, and store some yummy leftovers from Asheville's amazing restaurants in the fridge, but if you want to do more than that, just ask.
Hang out in the living room, watch some TV with the AppleTV, listen to some records, get comfy.
Laundry is also more or less available, just ask and we'll work it out.
Also, THE POND.

I'm a rare Asheville Native and have pretty much seen and done it all in this town.
I'm down for what level of interaction you want. If you want to be left alone, that's great. If you want suggestions on where to go and what to do, I'm your gal.
I work 8-5 M-F about 3 miles away in downtown Asheville, so I'll always be pretty close if you need anything. I'm pretty laid back and easy-going, just ask and we'll go from there.
A friendly reminder that this is my home, not a hotel. I live here full-time and work full-time and there are indoor/outdoor pets. Martha Stewart doesn't live here, but I bet she wishes she does! But fear not, the guest rooms are always thoroughly cleaned and dusted and mopped and froggy fresh, but the rest of the house is in a constant state of being lived in, just like yours!
Access to the kitchen is limited—if you need to store leftovers, that's fine, but if you want to make french macarons and swiss buttercream, let's talk first.
The cats are indoor/outdoor and the dog is too, so be careful upon arriving. However, they don't go in the bedrooms, they're both (my) pet-free.
The chicken coop is surrounded by a high-powered electric fence—absolutely don't touch it unless you like to go numb in your limbs.
NO smoking, drugs, or heavy drinking. If you vape, do it outside please.
Need to do laundry? OK, but please ask first.
During the week please be mindful of the workaday routine; keep it civil & quiet after 10PM please.
I'm amenable to a fair bit, so just ask. I want your stay to be comfy & rad.
SWIM AT YOUR OWN RISK. Know your skill level, know yourself. It's a real pond and there's no lifeguards.

A rare Asheville native. I'm a young professional woman working in IT.
When I'm not beeping boops for the Little Man, I'm outside hiking & swimming with my dog, gardening, or harassing my chickens. I occasionally paint and do other crafty things, have a serious love affair with streaming media, love good food and beer, and like catching live shows in town. I'm also an amateur pastry maker and play a lot of musical instruments poorly.
As a host, I want to be as hands-on or hands-off as desired. Wanna drink some beers on the deck and order pizza and learn salacious gossip about Asheville and what to do? Heck yes. Want me to stay out of your hair and pretend you're not here? I got you, fam.
I love meeting new people and hearing their amazing stories. Come stay at my place and we can swap yarns!
