Cozy yurt in a private forest area. Walking distance to the cheese factory (ice cream, lunches, snacks), produce stands, and a park. Short drive to Madoc (groceries, beer/ LCBO, parks, beach, library, bakery, restaurants, etc). Perfect area for star gazing, long walks & bike rides.
This yurt is in a camping setting, with indoor bathroom, no shower (guests can use the house shower) or wifi but there is electricity, indoor camping stove, BBQ, mini fridge, all pots & pans and clean drinking water.

Le logement
***** For winter stays, guests are required to supply their own wood for the indoor wood stove ( see below) if you are not comfortable using a wood stove it is not a good idea to stay in the winter as it is the ONLY source of heat******

The yurt is on the same 20 acre property as our house, but it is in its own secluded area in the forest. There is an indoor private bathroom in the yurt and for guest stays over 2 days, you are welcome to come up and use the house shower/ bath.
The yurt is all setup to cook meals both inside and out with all cookware, dishes and utensils provided (including a toaster, mini fridge, kettle, coffee press, & water cooler) . We have provided an indoor stovetop for the interior and a small Weber propane bbq for the outside. The outside area of the yurt is in a secluded spot and includes a covered seating area, chairs, a fire pit and the game "cornhole". Guests are required to supply their own wood. We suggest picking some firewood up locally (we give locations upon booking)for the interior wood stove during the winter months to heat the yurt. If you are not comfortable using and running a wood stove, a winter stay may not be the best time to enjoy the yurt- this is still winter camping! We do provide detailed descriptions on how to run the wood-stove and during the winter you can heat to a comfortable 18C or more if you run it properly. There are places locally that sell bags of spilt wood for $5.

In the winter months we supply 2 pairs of snowshoes- one male and one female pair!

We do charge an extra fee for additional guests to cover supply costs and cleaning, but this is only applicable to additional adult guests. Families are welcome with no extra person fees.

If you are looking to relax and take in nature then this is the place for you.

Accès des voyageurs
You are welcome to walk around our 20 acre property.

Autres points à prendre en note
Please keep in mind that with the yurt being in a camping setting, there is no A/C in the warmer months and only a wood stove for heat in the winter. It is the guests responsibility to supply the wood for the wood stove. We are happy to show you how to use the wood stove if you would like a hand!

We do not provide wi-fi. Depending on your provider, there is great reception out here still.

There is no shower but for stays over 2 days, guests are welcome to come up to the main house and use our shower/ bath. There is clean drinking water and a kettle for boiling water and a sink to do dishes, but there is no running water at the yurt.

The parking area is a couple minutes walk from the yurt site, down a cleared trail. It is not wheelchair accessible unfortunately.

We live in an active farming community that has a large Mennonite and Amish population. Down every road you can find a produce stand, farm fresh eggs and other awesome organic goods. There are always tons of events happening in the small towns surrounding us and multiple farmer's markets every weekend.

My family and I live in Ivanhoe, a small rural community and travel from time to time. We live on a 20 acre forested property and spend the warmer months experimenting in the garden and the colder months working on our old wonky house. I am self employed as a floral designer/ flower grower and my partner works for a craft beer company and dabbles in woodworking on the side. I am a total bookwom, while he is all about the documentaries. We have a daughter who often travels with us and overall we are a pretty laid back trio. We have many places left to travel to and slowly we are making our way through the list- from small towns within the province to international destinations!
