Aniabell was a great host. Before my arrival in Cuba she quickly answered any questions I had and arranged a taxi to pick us up at Varadero, where we started our trip, and then a taxi to take us to the airport after check out.
The location of the apartment is unbeatable. You are at a walking distance to many of the main landmarks and tourist spots in Havana (such as the Malecón, Capitolio, Parque Central, Old Havana...), while at the same time, still living in an area were Cubans go about their daily lives. It feels very safe as well.
You have the whole apartment for yourself. The apartment was clean, has a fridge you can use and a kitchen with the basic utensils in case you want to cook something, or just make some coffee or tea, has a balcony with a sea view, hot water and a glorious AC unit in the bedroom which will keep you nice and cool in the hot Havana nights.
You can also arrange for Aniabell's mother Ania to cook you a yummy breakfast for 5 CUC. It includes omelette, toast and butter, freshly made juice from seasonal Cuban fruits (such as mango and guava), fruit cocktail and coffee. For an extra, there are also water bottles and beer provided in the fridge and a laundry service.
I really appreciated Aniabell's and her mother's flexibility when it came to check in-out times, breakfast times and everything else. I felt like at home while in Havana thanks to Aniabell and Ania's kindness, going the extra mile to make sure we felt comfortable and we had everything we needed (even stomach medicine!).
The taxi driver, Eduardo, lives in the building opposite to the apartment, which is very convenient if you are thinking of visiting other areas of Cuba, such as Viñales, or Trinidad, or if you just need a ride around town. You can easily contact him and arrange any trips you are interested in.
I would highly recommend this apartment to anyone planning on visiting Havana, it's great value for money and you would be hard pressed to find better hosts that Aniabell and her mother. I'm very grateful for their kindness and I hope to see them again some day in the future!
