This was my first experience with airbnb and staying in someone's house, as opposed to a hotel. I found these folks to have the right disposition and attitude for this sort of thing. My first night there, I sat down with Patti's husband C. A. and our conversation felt like we were picking up where we had left off, though there had never been any previous conversation. I found each was open, forthcoming, and they treated me like an old friend. I had a quiet place to sleep- away from them and the fear of waking them when I came in late at night or rose early in the morning, complete access to the kitchen, and a private bath. The coffee they would routinely put on for themselves was offered to me. I must say the conversations we had were as valuable as the clean and adequate place to stay- the chance to learn about the life of another. Upon my request, C. A. even showed me his tidy woodworking shop out back. When you encounter people like this who are productive, content and naturally happy, it adds to the experience. I never once felt like a stranger. I expect to return next year to visit my friend nearby and would stay with them again.
