The hut is set in its own little garden with fruit trees, a picnic table and access to barbecue and sun loungers. The loo is in the little blue hut, along with basic washing facilities, but you are welcome to use the shower and toilet in our house. There is a small wood burning stove, a double bed and sofa/seating area in the hut. Bicycles are available to use for free (helmets not provided), as is a hammock.
The village with pub and cafe are 1 mile down the road. Good area for walking (popular walks by the River Culm). If you want peace and quiet, this is the place for you.
We have lived in Devon for the last 28 years and our 3 children grew up here, so we're very familiar with the area. I am a writer and Rob (my husband) is a photographer but we both work in the local cafe (where they serve a fab breakfast - and lunch!).
Our aim with guests is to make them feel very welcome, but also, if they want to be left alone, then to do that - we understand that when people come to a place like our Shepherd's hut, they want some privacy and 'together' time. But we want you to feel able to ask any questions that need answering. Our dog, Dermot, who is quite old now, will be hanging around looking fierce, but he's a total softie so no need to worry. Unfortunately, he's the reason we can't have other dogs on the premises as he's a bit antisocial with some dogs.
We really look forward to starting as hosts and meeting new people.
