Overall, we had a very good experience here, but the apartment needs more attention to basic furnishings and necessities.
The location in Wapping is in a nice, quiet neighborhood apparently filled with a lot of young professionals. The complex that it is in is pretty and pleasant. It's about a 15 minute walk to the Tower of London (great attraction) and the Tower Hill tube station there, and also a 15 minute walk to two other tube stations. Overall transport to most destinations within London that we visited tended to be about 40 minutes, including the walks from the apartment to a station and the walk from the destination station to the actual destination.
Along the way to the Tower, there are a lot of restaurants in the St. Katherine's Docks area. We had several nice meals there, and it was handy and convenient to have the restaurants close by. Also, it was a great convenience to have a supermarket a mere block away.
The apartment was clean and nice when I got there. Anatoly met me at the airport and gave me the keys. He had left some fresh milk and orange juice in the apartment so there was at least something there when I arrived - it was a nice gesture, as I certainly didn't expect any food to be supplied. The bathroom was fine, and there was soap and shampoo.
On the down side, as noted above, the apartment really needs more basic furnishings. The living room has a nice sofa and a dining room table with 4 chairs, and a TV. No coffee table to put anything down on if you're on the sofa. No easy chair to sit in aside from the sofa. No manual with wifi instructions. No instructions for the somewhat inscrutable washer/dryer or the microwave that all the button labels have worn off.
The kitchen is devoid of pots and pans, with the exception of one little frying pan. I cooked a couple of eggs for us, but had to use a fork to stir them as there was not even a spatula. There is a toaster and electric teapot.
The bedrooms were pretty bare. One of the bedrooms only has a sofa bed (albeit a fairly comfortable one), not a real bed. One nightstand between the two bedrooms. No lamps at all, just the overhead light. One garbage can in the entire apartment, in the kitchen.
In summary, it was ok. If the owners care to invest a small amount in bringing the place up to snuff, it could be very good rather than ok.
