Stay in one of our eco friendly cabins, in luxury!

Our micro-cabins are almost 100% off-grid, with a wood burning stove, solar powered lighting, etc.

The leafy outside area has a deck/porch, and a barbecue/patio area solely for guests use.
There's lots to do locally, with beaches nearby, and a short walk will bring you to the heart of this colourful village, with lively pubs, good restaurants, Irish music. Kinvara is an ideal base to explore The Burren.

Le logement
Please read our check-in guidelines below before making a booking.

Cabin 2 has a bedroom, living room/kitchenette, and little shower room/WC. It really is tiny, though slightly bigger than Cabin 1, it measures only 6m x 3.3m in total! It's very bright, with lots of windows, and a skylight. (The bedroom has blackout blinds) Hot water is instant, the shower is good. It's heavily insulated all round, which means it keeps the heat in, and also keeps the summer heat out, so it's a nice ambient temperature. The lighting is powered by a solar panel, and the toilet is a composting type, called a Separett Villa. Check it out online!

Accès des voyageurs
Outside the cabin, there is a partially covered deck where you can enjoy a coffee in the morning, or a drink in the evening sun. There is also a patio area with a barbecue solely for guests use. The garden is surrounded by hedges, shrubs, flowers and trees, and there is a herb garden to pick from if you are cooking! There are two cabins side by side, so you will possibly have neighbours.

Autres points à prendre en note
1. PLEASE NOTE: Please check with us before making a booking, if you will not be able to check in between 5-7pm. We may be going out! We will help with an early or late check-in if we can, but we need to know in advance, so please notify us as soon as you know that you will be arriving outside of these times. Due to the nature of the cabins, we cannot do a self- checkin, as there are things we need to explain when you arrive.
2. There is a cigar lighter- type socket in the cabin for charging mobile devices, so best to bring a car charger with you, if you have one. We can possibly help with adaptors if you don't have what you need.
3. We live right next door to a service station, which is not very busy. They have fresh croissants in the morning, and a hot food counter all day! We supply complimentary breakfast cereals, milk, tea, coffee, sugar, salt and pepper, washing up liquid, handsoap, toilet paper.
4. In the winter, the wood burning stove is the only heat source, there is no central heating, so you will be lighting fires to stay warm. It will be warm on your arrival, and we will show you how to light the fire. We supply everything you need for the stove.
5. In the winter months, places to eat out in the village are limited, specially after dark.
6. There's no washing machine, but the filling station right next door has washers and dryers for public use, available 24 hours.
7. We've been included in The Irish Times listing of "50 of the best places to stay, eat and play around Ireland's coastline" in July 2017. See photos.
8. The cabins are in a secluded area at the rear of our garden, and it is largely peaceful and quiet. But, we live on the outskirts of the village, not in a remote part of the countryside, so there will be the noises of village life from time to time.
9. I'm sorry we don't allow pets.

Kinvara, Galway, Irlande

The cabin is less than 10 minutes walk from the centre of the village. While in Kinvara you will find a weekly farmers market (on Fridays), lively traditional Irish pubs with nightly music and a handful of gourmet restaurants, as well as the grocery store, post office, etc. About 10 minutes away by car there is a Blue Flag beach called Traught.
The Burren is a short drive away (you can see the hills of the Burren from the cabin) where there are wonderful hiking and exploring possibilities.
Kinvara is a popular base from which to explore the cliffs of Moher, Doolin, the Burren, and other places of beauty.

I'm a musician, and have done my share of travelling to play music. I toured in Europe and the US a lot in the 90's, when I was based in London. Musically, I've played a lot of traditional Irish music, and lots of jazz, gypsy jazz, bluegrass, etc. I moved back to Ireland in 1998, and recently discovered that my ancestors were from Kinvara! I've also worked as a plumber/handyman, and I built the cabins, and restored the cottage, myself. I love the idea of minimalist living, and have always thought I would like to live in a small space, though I never managed to minimalise my possessions enough! I also love the idea of a dwelling that has no negative impact on the environment, and we've made a lot of effort to ensure that the cabins are almost totally off-grid. Catherine is from Germany, and arrived here ten years ago. She fell in love with the rugged west coast immediately, and has developed a range of craft jewellery which use local flowers, fauna, and beach stuff. She is passionate about interior design and you can see her artful eye in the interior design of the cabins and the cottage. She is also a keen gardener, and the gardens are bursting with colour in the summer. And she grows salads and other stuff in the polytunnel!

Durant votre séjour
We are both happy to meet and converse with guests. We have been living here for a few years, and Catherine in particular knows lots of great things to do and see locally. Equally, we are happy to leave people to their own peace/sense of adventure, if that's what you prefer.
