It's an old house that was a Thia restaurant that's an airbnb. It out dated with old beds and has a strong mold/mildew odor. The house is very dark inside and you walk through the restaurants kitchen and a couple of other rooms to get to the stairs that lead to the bedroom. I w…

Our listing clearly states that the room is in an historical landmark building that was built in 1902 as a multi-unit apartment house, and that the downstairs was later converted to a Thai restaurant which remained in business for 25 years, closing in 2016. The bed frames and furniture are vintage or antique pieces for the most part, but the mattresses have been recently replaced, and all the towels and bed linens were purchased this year. There is a MILD mildew smell coming from the basement stairs, which are connected to the entry landing for the exterior door, but there is an interior door separating the rest of the house from the entry/basement, and the smell does not carry into the house. We only have guests utilize the "rear" entrance, because it is conveniently located by the private, off-street parking lot, and is a standard household door with a keypad, which we felt guests would prefer to the glass commercial entry door located on the street side which requires a key and has additional stairs. There are also separate climate control systems for the upstairs and downstairs, further preventing any hint of odor from transmitting to the guest rooms. Being that the house was built over a century ago, the basement is not a solid, sealed, concrete basement, so it gets moist when there is rain. There are automatic lights and nightlights that illuminate a clear path through the house, as well as switched lights and lamps throughout that have provided adequate lighting for ALL of our previous guests, including several long term and regularly recurring guests, most of whom have been nurses, physical therapists, and other medical professionals that are in town for contracted work. We have never had any negative reviews or comments like these from our previous guests, but then again, we have also never had anyone communicate so poorly or expect so much assistance. Generally guests are able to find our address on the Airbnb app once their rooms are booked as opposed to messaging us through the app shortly before arriving to ask for it. Our phone numbers are also available with the booking info on the app, yet you chose to message us for it only after you arrived (3 hours later than expected and with only 15 minutes notice instead of an hour as requested). We're not sure why you felt the need to use every towel in the house (at least triple the amount required for the number of guests and the length of stay). You indicated in your private feedback that you "have stayed at numerous VBRO and 1 Airbnb" prior to this. It may be that Airbnb may not be up to your particular standards much of the time. We have stayed in numerous Airbnb locations and have found many of them comparable to what we offer, and have stayed in several that were more expensive, and not as nice as our place. I'm not sure what VBRO is, but my husband has been a member of (Hidden by Airbnb) (Vacation Rentals By Owner) since 2001, and he assures me that their listings are deluxe vacation homes, condos, and apartments that are only available weekly or monthly, and are well above the price point and standards of most Airbnb listings, so there is really no comparing any experience you may have had with them to your expectations of airbnb. We also don't understand what you meant by your private comment about the rooms' rates being hiked up for graduation weekend, and the rooms now being listed at half the rate you paid...our price to you was at our standard low rate and has not changed. We wish you the best of luck in the future, however we would prefer not to host you again. Sincerely, Clemmie and Travis
