Overall, Maria's place was as pictured! Although it was a little difficult for us to figure out exactly where it was since the Uber driver couldn't drive directly to it (as Lisbon is very hilly, a lot of the homes are accessed via smaller alley ways up a number of steps), my friend and I loved the location as it was walkable to a lot of key spots (Bairro Alto, Chiado, etc.)
The general cleanliness of the apartment was good; if anything, it were the other guests who didn't leave the bathroom as clean or left food out on the kitchen counter, for example. But that's a risk you take when you book an Airbnb with multiple rooms for several guest parties.
Maria is pretty responsive via Airbnb Messenger. She also runs her own restaurant, so at the time of check-in, she wasn't able to greet us when we got there, but we had access to the keys and another personnel came a little later on to get our information and make sure we had everything we needed.
The room that we actually stayed in was not the exact same room that was pictured? But it was very similar with the same furniture, just a slightly different set up. The view from our balcony was also beautiful and a nice bonus to come home to at the end of the night. We were provided with 2 towels each: one bath towel and one smaller one. I wish that maybe some wash cloths would have been provided but that's just my preference. There are 2 bathrooms in the apartment, but one of them was not in service while we stayed here. While I thought this would be a problem with the other two rooms also being occupied by guests, this wasn't the case. Still, would have wished that both bathrooms were functioning. Also, there are no mirrors in the apartment except for in one of the bathrooms (the broken one)! So sometimes that was a struggle, especially for two girls haha. Maybe the other rooms had mirrors, but not ours. Keep in mind also that there is no AC or fans in the apartment. We were out during the day and at night, it was cool so we slept with the balcony doors open. But if you're a light sleeper (it's the summer time so young people are on the streets being loud/partying at night into the early morning) or don't like the windows open, good luck because it can get stuffy.
SO I know I mentioned a lot of the things that bothered us, but it really is a quality place in a good location with a reasonable price. Book with Maria-- she's the sweetest.
