Accès des voyageurs
When you rent Cottage on the Cove the entire house is your space. Parking is on the property....there is possible boat trailer parking or RV parking if arrangements are made in advance of your stay. Guests can bring their own canoes, kayaks, little sail boats, paddle boards etc to launch and store in our large backyard waterfront. Larger boats can use the free public boat launch ramps, the closest is 2 minutes away, and it launches you into Tangier Sound home of lunker red drum, rockfish/striped bass( do internet image search for pix). Last year speckled trout were in numbers....haven't done it myself so I'm only quoting the local sports reporters. Guests can fish and crab from the shoreline in our backyard. I can't guarantee anything but our neighbor caught a 22" rockfish/striped bass from the shoreline last week. Birders will find many shorebirds and raptors wild in our yard and the area. This area is a hub of seasonal migration for birds and butterflies.

Sunsets are a blessing here, full western view across the water makes for super sunsets. A chair and refreshments on the beach is a wonderful way to share this tradition.

Stargazing is also a blessing here. If you have never stargazed here you will be amazed at what you see from here. The minimum of lights here creates a great stargazing opportunity.

Cycling enthusiasts will find wide marked bike lanes on the main arteries here making biking easier, several Chesapeake Bay scenic byway driving routes are around the area, in addition to competitive bike events such as the Seagull Century (25 minutes) and the Furnace Town Biking (Snow Hill) event.

Once a year there's an ironman and half marathon about an hour north or here by car; a marathon (Boston Qualifying) in Salisbury and a triathalon in Bivalve about 40 minutes north.

Sometimes watermen can be seen and not usually heard in the distance on the cove. They are scenic and charming. They depart in dark morning and arrive back mid-afternoon coming in and out of the marina seen in the distance in the photos.

Some watermen and workers often can be seen but not heard or smelled, sorting crabs in the crab shack seen inn the photos on the opposite side of the cove. It is there that they cultivate crabs, sorting out the soft shell from the hard... if they have a surplus they will often sell to folks stopping by to see what they have to offer,

Many roads have lines and icons painted on the road to indicate wide bike lanes along side the traffic lanes. There are signs labeling kayak and canoe access points/launching areas in parks throughout the area.

Many parks and docks nearby permit fishing with permits. There are many free launching ramps nearby.

This is a great place for stargazing.

There are many interesting destinations, museum, national parks, bay and ocean beaches and national shorelines within driving range for day trips. It is outlined on our blog and in the handbook at the house. For example Ocean City, MD has an amusement park area. All of that is on the blog.

No animals live at this vacation home.

Deal Island, Maryland, États-Unis

Our neighborhood is just off the main road, one long block of homes with backyards along the cove. We are surrounded by water life, starting with Chesapeake bay, and the cove, to the natural beaches, marshes, marinas, U of MD scientific research stations, 5-7 local rivers with their enmeshed creeks, to ancient pristine rivers with native flora and fauna.

We are surrounded by water, all aspects of it and its interaction with humans. It is quiet and rural not isolated, but not crowded. You might see neighbors or watermen plying their trade. You will see crab shanties where watermen sort, sell and maintain their crab harvests, and boats galore....but 2 minutes from our front door you will be able to sit on a quiet bay beach soaking in sun, sand, wind and peace....or sit in our backyard along the cove and be surrounded by the beauty around you. Maybe that would be most important to your soul. Its a special place, that's for sure. Come and stay with us, you can make up your own mind!
